No more $%#*&# chrome roof strips!!!
Well, I made a run down to Summit Racing yesterday and picked up 2 20' rolls of Prostripe chrome blackout tape. I stripped the roof strips off of the car this afternoon, and began the transformation!
Here are the rain channels without the strips.
I didn't take any pics of the chrome strips, as we all know what they look like. Here are the two rear sections, all finished!
Here are the black clips that are located along the windshield sides of the strips...most of them popped off of the strip...luckily none of them broke!
Here is everything back on the car!

The worst that can happen is I break the clips, and have to go to Nissan for new ones! I know that some guys said that they cracked their windshield. The only way that I could have damaged my windshield is if I would have used the windshield for leverage when prying the strips off. Don't use the windshield...pry from the other side, using the A-pillar. As far as the body molding on the car, it is put on with high strenth double sided tape. I would NOT try removing the body molding, as you could damage your paint. I would have a body shop do it.

VERY NICE! thinking about doing CF overlay since i have the slate grey but scared ****less of removing the roof strips. I have a roof spoiler so I don't think I can get the rear window pieces off so I won't worry bout that, but can you remove 'just' the roof strips w/o removing the back piece also? You say pry from the body 'door' side not the window side but I thought these things had to slide, not pop straight up. Confused.
Either way....AWESOME JOB. Solves a lot our fading problem.

The only thing you need to worry about taking the roof strips off is that the strips might bend. So be careful when taking it off and putting it back. And it might be hard to remove the strips without taking off the back pillars. I didnt have a problem doing mine but it was hella scary making sure that the strips dont bend while i was removing, sanding, painting, and re-installing the strips. Other than that you should be ok

I like the chrome better.........BUT since the quality on those strips is so bad, we don't have a lot of choice but to do something else. Nice job, good write up too.
CFR94 if you or anyone does a CF overlay version, I would like to see that!
Oh yeah, I don't the a spoiler would be in the way of removing strips. Dealer replaced mine with spoiler on.

The only problem I had was I had one clip per side pop off of the car (the side that stays on the car)...they are only glued onto the rain channel. I took some crazy glue that I had and glued them back down, and they seem to be holding. I figured worst case, if they didn't hold, I'd go get some JB Weld and stick them suckers back on!
