Whats wrong with your hood?

I dont think there are any 07 OEM aftermarket hoods so you'll need to get one from the dealer if yours is too badly damaged and you want a new one -- check car-part.com to see if a local junkyard has a used one

06 hood wont look right -- look at the 2nd pic here 06 hood w/ 07 bumper: http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generat...-complete.html

lol not my swap, I alrdy have an 07

Wasnt there a warranty on the repair? Go back to the shop and see if they can do something about it. If you filed a claim with your insurance then they usually provide a lifetime warranty on the repair so you can complain to them if the shop doesnt want to help

I know a place that sells aftermarket 07-08 hood. Problem is factory hood is aluminum and aftermarket is steel. I have a aftermarket steel hood and the hood struts won't hold the weight. I have to use a hood prop now. I really don't care they look the same.

They sell on ebay here.... http://stores.ebay.com/dnhautoparts

There web site here...... http://www.dnhautoparts.com/painted-auto-parts-service/

Call them because if its not listed they can get one for you. They Quoted me about $250 primed.

by prop i think he means the 2 little struts on the left and right side of the hood, near the windshield that hold the hood while its open.

if your hood struts are pretty new, i think they'll hold the aftermarket hood no problem.. its w/ time that they will strat failing, and it's more noticeable on a steel hood.

He's saying the aftermarket steel hood is heavier than the stock aluminum hood so the hood struts that hold the stock hood up wont be able to support the extra weight of the steel hood so you'll have to use a prop like a wood or metal rod to hold your hood up, something like:
http://sdgcc.com/members/DDD/318/Image042.5.JPG

Or you can take a locking plier like this one http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too..._130103_130103 and when you open the hood, just clamp it in the middle of one of the hood struts so that the hood isnt able to close (make sure its tightly clamped or else it'll slowly close on you) -- this is what I used to do on my 95 after the hood struts were worn out (doesnt look that cheap so less embarrassing plus it wont get in your way like a rod would)

If you are looking for an 04-06 hood, I have mine from my 2006 in perfect condition, factory, not aftermarket. About 300 shipped.

Yes the aftermarket is heavy steel. The factory hood is made out of a lighter aluminum. They also have the 07-08 front bumper.

They can paint it for you and ship it but you risk a chance that the new paint might not blend in with your fenders and bumper.

Thanks for that but I got my aftermarket 04-06 Hood for $59 bucks brand new and primed. I didn't know it was steel but for that price It will do. He was saying how he couldn't find a Aftermarket 07-08 hood. I already called them for my 07 hood and bumper.
