FML, FML, FML worst luck.

So...my 04 max with 155,000 miles blew the heads or something weird like that anyway motor was done , I replaced the motor with another that had ~40K miles on it. also replaced clutch, mounts, a cat, 02 sensor, bought a ypipe, and catback to replace all the worn out exhaust too. Got it back, now got SES codes p1148 and p1110 car runs OK but not too much power, it cuts in and out, WHATEVER ill figure that one out with my mechanic or dealer. FML part is today randomly when I turned the engine on it started making the famous timing chain rattle for 3-5 sec on cold starts. I already had this problem on my old motor except the noise was constant for a few minutes instead, I ended up getting it fixed but the timing was ever so slightly off and it was burning massive amounts of oil after the repair. my question is how many of you have this chain rattle just for a few seconds on startup? Did it ever get any worse and last longer or become constant? But wow I just spent so much money on this car just to have this problem, I honestly do not know what to do at this point :/

I had checked the oil and its near the high mark, havent even driven the car 50 miles since the engine was put in, so yah but youre right on my other engine I did notice when the oil was low the noise was worse, Im just wondering if this is gonna come and go, or if its going to stay making this noise for a few seconds, or if its going to become like my other one and get a lot worse.

But ive checked the oil, a few times maybe ill do it even again but it is full, up to the full mark even (I was afraid that the oil level was even too high) so Iam afraid to add a quart of oil because overfilling it can lead to overflowing and oil starvation (as so I'm told)

Do you guys use 5 quarts??or the reccomended 4.5? Can anyone tell me more about this rattle? I have noticed a rattle on cold starts for a second or two.Is that the infamous timing chain rattle everyone is talking about?

Wasn't there some kind of heat shield issue on the y-pipe or secondary cat that caused a rattle on start-up too?

OP, did you get an OEM y-pipe or aftermarket?

recommended is 4.25 but i always use 4.5

only rattle i've had is a loose bracket a few times.

fawking dealer place a rusted old pos bracket on last time that caused a rattle.
