Installed HID fog lights and now "service engine soon" light is on!

Hey pretty much as stated in the title, I installed some HID lights today to replace the fog lights, I got everything installed and working great but the service light came on after I reconnected the battery and started the engine. Is this normal because the battery was disconnected? I know this happened on some of the VW I used to work on. I gotta go into the dealership in about 100 miles so if all it needs is reprogramming I can wait, but if no one is for sure of what's going on I guess I'll have to make two trips to the dealer. Thanks for the help!

Go to autozone, oreilly, or some place similar to have them scan the codes. There's no point in going to the dealer.

You turned the ignition to on with the MAF disconnected? happens to me often. CEL will go off in a day or 2.

.5/10

I'm pretty sure you didn't get new rims, unless I missed your thread asking how to install them...
