switchblade key question

so i bought this switchblade key fob with a blank key...i programmed it myself and it unlocks and locks the car and had nissan cut the blank but they said they'll charge me 150bucks to TRY and program the key and they dont guarantee that it will work ...when i put the key in the ignition it turns but the car doesnt turn on...anyone have any tips or cheaper alternative to finding out if it can be programmed correctly....

I had saw something like that but they had a 6.5 gen. I didnt know the 6th gens could use those. I dont know who you could talk to but if Nissan can't do it then I dont know who would. You would probably need to transfer the existing key to that switchblade fob.

If it turns but doesn't work I'd think its the computer security chip inside that doesn't match correctly with the car? Investigated doing the same, using an all-in-one keyfob to an '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee for my '01, but according to the dealer and a keyfob website, despite the fact that the metal looks identical, they won't work.

I got the exact same thing. You need to get the key programmed at the dealer or a locksmith. Only they can program the transponder chip. The local locksmith near me charges $100; still trying to find a cheaper place to do it.
The remote can be programmed easily - which is what you already did.

You don't need to go to any dealer. All that is BS. I have 3 total switchable keys for my car that i made myself. The cost was the price of the fob and $5 to copy the blank. I helped few guys on 6thgenmaxima.org do their keys as well (they were local).

I'm not on here much... but you can hit me up on the other org if you want.

Enjoy!

How-to on programming the key? Don't you need a Consult II & Nissan's ASIST program? Or something like that.

No. I think he just busts the chip out of the key and puts in inside the switchblade key. Waaallaa.
He did my switchblade that way and I have zero issues. Never went to the dealership, just. Bought the key off ebay.
