So I was driving downtown today in stop and go traffic. Pretty slow moving, and finally got to a light and was able to make it up to third gear. Well as you may have guessed, 3rd gear was not there. Was like I went from 2nd to neutral. This happened to me for about the next half hour. I was so pissed as you could imagine. I didn't want to have to rebuild the tranny completely. So anyways I got home hooked a code reader to it and nothing. So I reset all the sensors anyway. Then I disconnected the battery and checked all the fluids. The engine was extremely hot and the fluids where all normal. I let it cool down and left the battery disconnected for about 30 minutes then hooked it back up and tested the car. To my surprise I have 3rd gear now. Not really sure of what happened, just going to baby her till I get a shift kit and tranny cooler installed. So if this ever happens to you try what I did before you give up completely. Oh no checkengine lights or anything. Just no 3rd gear. I had 1,2,4, and 5th all the way home.

My issue I had was in D , it would get stuck in (5) when I switch to tiptronic on the highway,
I would ususally go into N and let the car ride out and shut the key off and restart (it would reset itself ) and I wouldnt be stuck in 5th.

When 3rd did that , i tried the same thing, for awhile it was fine, no codes, then one day normal driving and BAM!!! 1st-2nd-N ...Rev Rev Rev Rev...

Then for a year I drove in tiptronic, I would have to rev high up in 2nd and shift into 4th.

yours is comming towards then end part, if you daily drive.good luck

man that's exactly what I had to do 1,2,high rev, 4th. I will be getting this shift kit and aftermarket cooler installed here in the next couple weeks along with a drain and fill with full synthetic trans fluid. No messin around here. I really hope it doesn't die on me. I live in Hawaii and have to hold out at least another year with this tranny. what costs 3k on the mainland is about 5k here.
