Maxima hard to start when warm - No Codes **RESOLVED**
After returning from the stealership with a depleted wallet and an unresolved issue, I turn to the folks I should have turned to from the beginning. My Maxima is hard to start when warm and there are No Codes visible. Here is the rundown:
1. Car hard to start when warm (cranks for about 2 minutes before
turning over).
2. Car stalls about one mile into driving, after cold start
(happens more frequently after I reset the ECU).
3. No Codes read from the Stealership
4. Stealership replaced MAF but issue remains (used one)
5. Fuel Pump replaced
6. Stealership stated the ECU was reading odd temps ( -49)
7. Read the TSB regarding the Camshaft and crankshaft position sensors
but there are no codes to prove the case.
8. Tried two different set of keys to eliminate in issues regarding security
I have never publicly pleaded for anything in my life (except for this girl I use to dig in 4H camp) but now I have to --> Please Help!!!

Pulled this from the TSB:
ACTIONS:
If you only have DTC P0340, replace only Bank 1 CMP (Camshaft Position) Sensor.
If you only have DTC P0345, replace only Bank 2 CMP (Camshaft Position) Sensor.
If you have both codes, replace both sensors.
For a "hard to start warm" incident, replace both sensors, even if you have no codes.
Refer to sections EC and EM in the correct Service Manual for sensor replacement
Guess I'll start with the Camshaft positon sensors ..

I would try the coolant temp sensor first. My 95 max had a problem similar to that with long prolonged cranks out of no where and changing out that sensor took care of the problem. The sensor was under $30 from autozone. Just a suggestion.

I had similar thing happen..but I eventually threw a code. It had weird hard to start problems, then stalled going around a corner. I did some research and replaced the front cam pos. sensor. Took like 2 minutes and worked like a charm. That was 2 years ago. I had cold start problems recently when it was freezing out. DID the seafoam treatment and fixed her right up. Good luck

the position sensors 1 are expensive and are no joke to replace. i had to change out mine 4th gen. maxima. the rear sensor was easy. it was the one under manifold that was a pain.

I am happy to report that the replacement of Both cam sensors fixed an issue that the Stealership could not diagnose.. Thanks to all present and past who has either posted or started a thread on this issue..

hopefully you got your loot back or put towards the sensors concidering they made you put all that money towards nothing. Or at least got your old parts back for resale.

BANK 2
Can you please describe to me where the bank 2 camshaft position sensor is located? A part number and/or a pic of the sensor would help also. There is not too much info on these sensors for the maximas.
