Headlight Covers hazing

Hey Guys, I have a 2005 and the clear headlight covers are starting to haze over from the strong florida sun. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to clear these up.

The 3M headlight restoration kit works really well. You need to have a drill. It cost around $15-20. Its the best thing out there

I use Meguires swirl remover and then their yellow wax to seal it and it clears 90% of it and I have an 04.

i use a turtle wax resto kit form autozone paid $8 works really well for an inexpensive kit

Thanks I will try one of these this weekend. The florida sun is brutal on this material.

I highly recommend you read this before using the 3m or any other cleaning products on your headlights. At $500-$800 a pop you can't afford to mess these things up. Headlight cleaning issue

I tried a couple of kits but just ended up having them done professionally, $20 per light and they look like new!!!

if this option is available to you I highly recommend it. Liability is nice to leave in the workers hands. They screw it up they fix it.

Update, I went to the local autozone and could find the wax that everyone recommended, so I got the meguries cleaner wax for 6.99 and tried it with a lilttle bit of pressure and an old cotton T shirt for 2 min and the haze/oxidation came off, Im surprised at the difference. The dealership/stealership wanted 69.95 to do both lights. The guys on this board save me 60 bucks plus.

Thanks po8pimp, My bad for not searching for this thread, I was fustrated with having the freaking covers haze on me. I went the manual labor way with the wax and elbow grease. They look alot better than before.

Yea that mequires Plastix is awesome stuff. If you neglect them long enough though you would have not gotten them completely cleaned and that is when you would have wanted to use the process I described in the "Headlight cleaning issue" thread. Just make sure you use that or even the Mother's plastic polish everytime you wash your car.

Yeah I will make sure to pay more attention to these than ever before, since now I know that they cost abot 500 each.

The problem with most of these cleaners called headlight restoration is only a temporary fix. That's why places charge a lot to do them, because they are doing it right. The way they do it is by wet sanding with 1000, 1500 and 2000 followed by a buff with a wax from Mothers for plastic. Must use a high speed buffer not the kind you get a wally world. That 3M is garbage.
