When I was about 12 yrs old, my dad owned an 87 Camry turbo diesel back in Madagascar. We would go to the beach (7 hours of grusome twisty and hilly roads). My dad loved to push the car especially on road trips and he knew this route well.

One time we followed a similar year 89-90 Nissan Maxima just like this one

It was probably the only one in the entire island. I know we had the only Camry in the country at that point.
He was having such a hard time following that Maxima. On the hills my dad could keep up because of the big low end torque of the diesel but on the flats, he would just dust us.

From then on I have always been fascinated with Maximas. From then on I always noticed they were geared for more performance when compared to their other japanese rivals. So I knew I had to get a Max when I could afford one...and I did.

My 06 is the first nissan car I have ever owned, but I Have always liked them. My guardians had a 1997 and I took that b*tch to Saddy Hawkins, I thought I was the sh*t lol

Anyways, that was neither here nor there. I love driving the car. We have two other sedans (06 Hyundai Sonata V6 and a TL)> All three cars are almost identical year models and have roughly the same mileage.

The Max is the funnest and the one that kicks bootie hands down!

And it's also the least reliable thus far hands down...by a large margin

The seats were comfortable, plenty of room, no shift-shock, push me back in my seat acceleration, and excessive engine braking.

Just got my off lease '06 and compared to the SUV's that I've been driving for the last 15 years or the wife's van, it almost feels like a ferrari in comparison. I can really drive the mountain roads un upstate NY or the long straight flats here on Long Island. Its finally fun to drive again.

I had casual interest in it as well right before I test drove it. I figured I would give Hyundai the benefit of the doubt since my wife's Santa Fe is a great vehicle.

By the looks of the V6 Sonata you would think you might be in for a nice drive. A peppy 3.3 V6, decent looking wheels with somewhat aggressive looking stance, dual chrome exhaust tips...

That is where all aspects of fun ended. I drove the car off the lot and took it immediately out onto the onramp of the interestate for a wide open throttle run. It was possibly the biggest let down I've had in a car. Maybe I expected too much, but it was one of the most underwhelming experiences I've had to date with a test drive. It's a car with absolutely no soul.

If you love cars, then you can appreciate a nice german sport sedan, some American muscle, and even Japanese technology, but this car had nothing to show. I would be depressed driving it everyday.

HOWEVER, I sat in a loaded Hyundai Genesis and was totally opened up to experiencing that rwd V8. It had a beautiful interior, and I can only hope it has decent road manners with 375 hp...on REGULAR fuel.

I went in for an 2004 Altima 3.5, the guy said hey we got in 2 of the newly designed Nissan Maxima's (Sept 2003) and we haven't unwrapped them yet, want to see them? I said yes so we go to the back fenced in area and there was a Silver and Red Opulence one sitting in the back. I told him I'll take the red one if you get it unwrapped and we can test drive it now. 1 hr later I signed on the bottom line.
