Changing front maplights

Hey guys, does anyone know how to open the front maplight lens cover on an 07? The 2 diagrams on page 8-29 of the manual don't match my maplight (mine doesn't have sunroof). I can't find anything using search either. Can someone tell me which piece to pry open (grey piece or clear piece)? and which corner? Thanks in advance!

I believe you might have to remove the screw, otherwise the clear part pry's off.

i did a review on this... hold on lemme getcha a link.

basically all you do is stick a small flathead screwdriver in between the plastic lense and the overhead console.. and it should pop the clips out.

I soo had to ask how this is done. I will like to change my bulds too. Now, all I need to do is buy the led bulbs.

Nick, thanks for the link.

Now, my question is where do I get some good leds. Any ideas?

Thanks for the link. Are the bulbs in the front maplights T10 wedge or 36mm festoon for an 07 Maxima? I see a wedge type in those pictures, but the LED online stores say 36mm festoon. Did Nissan change to festoon for 07 model year?

I'm not trying to threadjack, but I'm really new here and I don't have enough permission to post my own thread. I am just trying to find out if anyone can tell me which package LED's to buy to replace the LED's in my info screen. I have an 04 and that is all I have left to complete my LED swap. I don't want to be without my screen for a week while I wait on parts to arrive. My gauges and buttons and switches are all red and white and look amazing... but the info screen is a BIG ORANGE BOX staring me in the face! ANY help would seriously be appreciated... Thanks.

Yup... I have an 08 ... I changed the front map lights to LED's and I changed the rear dome lights (2 of them) to LED's .... The rears were simple... I am adding a picture of the LED's I used. The front map lights were a bit more difficult because of the confined space that you have to work with. They don't leave much more space than what the tiny bulbs will fit into.

TO REMOVE THE REAR DOME LENS COVER:

-Very simply take a small flat blade screwdriver and carefully pry the clear lens cover off. (you may accidentally pull the entire assembly out of the headliner, but, that's ok. It'll pop right back in.) Once inside, I removed and discarded a metal plate that was in there restricting light passage. I don't know why they put that in there??? Then I popped the old bulbs out and popped the new LED's (pictured below) in. EASY!

TO REMOVE THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE:

-To remove the overhead console you need to open the glasses holder and remove the phillips head screw that is in there. Next, you need to jam your fingers under the entire console (in between the console and the headliner) and pull down sharply. (I had you use quite a bit of force) The console will pop then pop out. It is simply held up there with that one screw and 4 clips that are hard as hell to pop out. HA! You just gotta yank it! Now you unplug the console and take it inside. For the LED's that I used I didn't have enough space to install them "as is".... so after removing the clear lenses (simply, but gently, pry them out) and the stock bulbs ...I had to remove the plastic cream colored backing plate that is behind the stock bulbs.//Picture of backing plate\\ After that I had enough room to install the LED's pictured below. These LED's were not 360 degree facing.... they just faced straight down... so I didn't need any type of reflective backing.

This is the rear LED's that I got from Autolumination.com (3022 / 29mm):

This is the front map light LED's that I got from SuperbrightLEDs.com(194 wedge style):

I hope this can help someone because I couldn't find any detailed instructions on this mod. Only bits and pieces of info that I was looking for. Maybe this could be a sticky?

mtndewnut, not sure if you realized you replied to a post that was over 2 years old.

Good info though. And as for interior LED's, but them from me, link in my sig! Best quality and brightest around!

Yeah... they better be better than what I got... cause the price sure reflects that.... I spent about $30.00 on everything ..... and for me..... they are plenty bright .... MUCH better than stock . I do realize the post was old... but... like I had said... I couldn't find any specific "how-to's" on removing that overhead console. I thought I would add my $.02 and maybe it would push someone else over the edge and going for the upgrade. It's worth it.

I checked out your Max on Cardomain .... really nice ... I really like all of your upgrades!

I am having tough time deciding if I want white or red LEDs in the door marker lights. Planning to keep the current lense on, which is red. Anybody try the red LEDs?
