i dont really gun it and romp on the accelerator but the cpu says im getting around 16 miles to the gallon and its mainly city driving with normal traffic flow. i just picked up this car a week ago, could it just be getting used to a new driver?
im pretty sure ive got a little over 100 miles on 1/4 of a tank which should be like 20ish mpg and the cpu says im getting 16
Eyeballing the gauge isn't going to be very accurate. From my experience, the one on the info center is pretty close, however if you are really unsure fill up your gas and see how much fuel you use.
If you really want to be accurate, fill up a tank until it clicks for the first time, then drive normal and fill up later at the same gas station until it clicks... then do the math.

the ONLY accurate way to calculate your gas mileage is to divide the amount of miles you drove by the gallons you put back in. Fill up your tank, reset the trip, drive till you're just about empty, fill it back up, then calculate your mpg.
i hope i dont get 15 in my vq swapped spec v.. What do you guys get on the freeway doing about 80 avg? my shop is about 35 mins from my house so thats all i will be driving usually all freeway.. i was thinking i was gonna get somewhere between 20-26 avg mpg ?
My wife has 2006 max, around town is 20-22, highway 25-27. She had an 03 Altima before with 4 cyc, auto and gas milage was worse. The 5 speed auto in the max makes the difference. I have an 01 Max 3.0L, 4 speed auto and 06 gets better mpg
Man the hell with the info screen, just last week i was almost on empty with about 19 miles DTE, i drove a bout 2 mins and check again and there was a damn star. I was driving balls to the wall on i40 crazy traffic. Thank god i found a close by exit with gas station, ( it wasnt my regular shell gas though). And another time i filled up, the info screen said 320 DTE, I did the ol school math and got 350 miles instead.

FYI..you can probably go about 60-80 miles with the star on the info. screen. You do have about 4 gallons left when the gas light comes on. I've driven the car many miles with that star.
My Max averages about 20 mpg with a healthy mix of city and highway.
i used to get 12mpg on the highway according to the info screen. so i decided to challenege the screen by putting 8 gallons in the car and waited until the fuel light came on. eventually it did at 165 miles.. the computer sed i was getting 12mpg by then but by actually doing the calculation i got a lil over 20mpg... reset your info screen cuz thats what i did n now its pretty accurate..
Had mine for 3 weeks so far and city I seem to get a little over 20 mpg, and on the highway at 70-75mph it gets 27-28 mpg. I've put a little over 1,000 miles on it in 3 weeks and average so far over the 1,000 miles is about 24 mpg. It's an 05 SE 6-speed by the way.
keep in mind the type of wheels you have on guys. Milage will vary.
I got an 05 doing City/highway and getting 20 mpg on a full tank ( 15 gals or so) I can do about 300 before the light will come on. I'm also running 18" non chrome wheels .
Honestly , I don't see a difference if I have the AC on or not. I still get 300 a tank lol
If i don't have the AC on I tend to have a heavy foot =)
My computer is spot on. I look at the average, multiply by 20 to see how many miles I can drive till empty and its spot on every time.
The whole fule system is about 21.5 gallons. Example: Let's say that my car shows 18 MPG. 18 MPG x 20 Gallons (in tank) = 360 miles. I would do about 340 miles before showing at the gass station and sure enough when I do I put about 19 gallons with change in. Thing is spot on.

The difference is not about chrome vs non-chrome, the difference is in design and manufacturing process.
Some wheels are like anchors and will rob your MPG like you don't know it. My MPG went up at least 2 MPG when I went from semi-heavy (still lighter than OEM) HP racings wheels to ultra light (less than 20Lbs per 19") NISMOs. Huge difference. Obviously a 20 or 22" rim is never going to be light. Thats like saying a 300 LBs woman is skinny. Never gonna happen.
