Got my new Rotors and brake pads but...

Got my new rotors and brake pads from Rotorpros and had them installed this weekened. However it seems like my pads aren't stopping my car as well as my other pads from Just Brakes. When I apply my brake it stops the car but it feels like my rotors are slipping through my pads unless I apply more pressure. There is nothing wrong with my brake sytem either. I hope I am making myself clear.

Did you take the clear coat off of the rotors from the factory?
Did you break them in properly?
Did you install them properly?

you are going to have to resurface your rotors and your pads i think it's $15 buck for the rotors i dont know for the pad you could go to any brake shop.

Before u install them, u have to sand the surface. I do it by hand or u can have brake shop do it. I also scuff the pads. I tihnk i use 100 grit sand paper. Then u have to bed them in after u install them. This means driving at 35 and braking slowly to stop a few times, and then 40 mph and stopping etc.

I disagree with the sanding opinions here. When I bought my drilled and slotted rotors I cleaned the oil properly and installed new pads. The performance is awesome. Two years later and no vibration and still good breaking. New rotors only need to be cleaned of the material used to prevent rust before install.

Guys thanks for replying. A friend of mine installed them. He's a general mechanic. However he got eact rotor and sprayed them down with some type of solution. That was all and nothing was done to the brake pads. So where do I go from here? Get my rotors resurfaced? Thanks!!!!

It just needs to get broken in.. The stuff he sprayed on your rotors are called brake cleaner to remove the oil they put on it to prevent it from rust during storage until someone purchases them to be installed..

When you have new rotors and pads installed the brakes feel horrible, drive it around and step on the brakes, best thing to do is take it on the highway when it's not congested, drive at the normal speed of say 60 and brake to 30, do that like 5 to 10 times, you can slowly increase the speed, that will bed your brakes in and within 500 to 1000 miles your brakes will feel great and should steadily improve

So, why dont you have to break in the brakes on a new car? I'm asking b/c I am getting new brakes in the next couple of months. I've never had to break in any new brakes I've ever had professionally installed.

Because as soon as the car gets from the assembly line to the delivery truck to the dealer.. The technicians perform a job task called a P.D.I. Pre-Delivery Inspection.. Which means the technician check fluid levels, electrical, tire pressure, grease, etc.. They also do a road test 5-10 miles at least to check for vibration, pull, alignment, etc.. Also to break in your brakes.. Ask me how I know.. I'm a technician and work at a dealership..

try a softer pad if you are concerned with this. If you have ceramics and are in a colder climate area even after you do the brake in steps you will experience this for the first few miles until the brakes are warmed up. Brake pads are probably the cause. check what kind of compound your brake pads are made of and post it. I recommend semi metalic if you don't race or drive hard/brake alot. If you do drive hard or race go with ceramics by rabestos or similar.
