Tire pressure monitor- low side??

Tire pressure monitor- low side??
The TPM symbol came on yesterday. Pressures were 33-33-30-32.
Filled them all up to 35 and the symbol went away. Rechecked and all are at 35 today.
Wonder at what pressure the symbol comes on?? Cannot find it in the book.
Thanks.

My 06 was not equipped with the TPMS, but my 09 probably is, here is what I did with my fathers 07 ES350 and my boys 09 V6 Camry, they are preset from the factory to go off at like 32psi or 30psi, really annoying especially in the winter months, you can drive around for months looing at the light on the dash, so I decided to drop the air in the tires to 20psi, reset the TPMS and then rein flat the tires now if the light goes off, we know their is a problem

I will look in my 09 owners manual later

I have the cheap system, SE, and the TPM system goes off when there is a difference in pressure between the individual tires. If all the tires are the same pressure, then it will not sound off the alarm. If, however, one or more tires drop pressure, then it will signal to you that you have tire pressure issues. It is really only there to let you know if you have a low or flat tire as opposed to keeping you informed about the tire pressure of each individual tire.

If 35 PSI is correct and your light came on when one tire had only 30 PSI in it, I would think the system is working correctly, telling you your tire pressure is incorrect.
Why would you change that? Why on earth would you reset that value down to a completely dangerous level of 20 or so PSI? Makes no sense.
I sure wouldn't like to be driving around on a tire thats over 15 PSI low, it's down right dangerous. At 5 PSI lower then recommended, I'm looking for air.

i believe the threshold is anything under 30psi will kick on the light. don't forget that the psi will vary with temperature especially if its just been driven. always check tire pressure after it has been sitting for a while.

Thanks for all the responses. I guess the easiest solution is to keep them at 35 and see if the TPMS ever comes on again. I had new tires installed recently and the tech may not have filled to correct pressure.
In the C5 Corvette, the TPMS is a little more sophisticated. If the pressure falls out of the 25-40 range, the system give you a message and identifies which tire is causing the under/over problem.

I would always recommend, looking at the sticker in your door frame (sometimes its in the center console lid) to find the proper pressure for your car. It is usually something like 35 PSI for the front and 32 PSI for the rear tires. I would use these numbers over what the tire says any day.
