thermostat problems

my a/c works well but if you set the temperature at higher than 61 it blows steam not cold air my outside temp. read is always the same -22f any one what can be done do correct this i would appreciate it i have an 07 max no longer has a warranty thanks

The vapor you are seeing is probably excess moisture on the evaporator caused by high humidity. It should dry off in a few minutes after you turn on the AC.

i was not clear what i meant i didnt mean that steam comes out i meant that the heat comes even at a low temperature anything above61 the heat comes out of the vents and not cool air a/c

Have your A/C recharged and then tested for leaks. Something is wrong.

Ok, it sounds like you might have a calibration problem. If the AC compressor is engaging and the lines get cold then the AC should be ok but the air flow behind the dash is not being directed correctly. Generally when you adjust the temperature you are moving the air from the evaporator towards the heater core or the other way depending on the outside temperature. I am not good at explaining this, perhaps someone else can do a better job.

considering this to be the problem how would i fix it also if this is correct that means my outside temp. read is a different problem?

Their is a inside temperature sensor under the dash on the L. side and one behind he front bumper for the outside temp. You might be able to test it with a multimeter. You might be better off paying a little more to have a dealer check this out, they are usually more familiar with this kind of stuff. This is the only photo I could find. I found it on my library website.
