Aftermarket Resonators

Ok heres the deal. I'm thinking about going with an aftermarket resonator for the max with the stock exhaust system for now. I know some of you guys have the magnaflow and flowmaster resonators on your cars. Give me input on the best way to go. I'm not looking to upgrade the whole exhaust system just yet.

Go with a MagnaFlow. A little expensive, but have great quality and last a long time.

I got the magnaflow's 14805's with a 25" magnaflow resonator and the sound is nice, BUT the drone inside the cabin would give you a headache at 2k-2.5k RPM which is usually normal traffic driving. I'm switching back to stock res...

Will there really be much of a difference with just the resonator changed? I'd get mufflers instead and leave stock resonator...but let us know how it goes

Really, I have the same setup (with 2.5" piping to the back) and the 22" and the droning isn't so bad. I guess it's all personal preference though!

You think just changing the mufflers instead would be a better idea? I'm looking for a nice deep sound. No rice rocket inline 4 crap.

Yes +1. You will get the deep tone but if u ALSO change the resonator then u will get the drone

There always the cattman resonator. I think it comes attached as one piece with the b-pipe. I remember when i talked to Brian when i bought my catback exhaust he said that you can get the b-pipe and it will hookup with the stock mufflers. You should give him a call to get more info.

Yeah I emailed him about more info on the whole catback exhaust system. I may just want to save for a little and just get the whole thing. All I've heard is that it's pretty much the best sounding setup for the maxima.

If you want tone, change the mufflers not the resonator.

If you change the stock exhaust parts do you lose the stock Maxima sound?

I'd go full cat-back or none at all imho. I made the mistake on a previous car of getting a Magnaflow muffler (which was awesome) and then individually replacing the crimp bends with mandrel bend and all that... turned out to be more expensive over time.

But it's the bends that are truly restrictive, 2nd are the mufflers and then the resonator(s) ;-)

Thanks for the advice. At first I was thinking of going your route with the magnaflows and all, but I figure it could be very pricey replacing each part instead of just getting the whole package at once. Cat-back is the only way to go.

They don't display any parts for the 6th gen on the website. I wish they would as well.

Vigilante- I'm not as concerned with pics as I am with price. I know from all of the Cattman product owners on this site that their products are high quality, otherwise there would be bad reviews lol. All I'm saying is that they should post product info for us with the 6th gens on their site.

That is the sexiest exhaust for the 6th gen hands down. Maybe if they posted pics on their website more people would buy them

U pretty much have to be a member of this forum to even know that they exist...

I have Cattman mufflers with no resonator and sounds great, nice and deep. I had the mufflers first with the resonator still attached and you could barely hear them.
