Any of you fellas have bike racks on your 6th gens? I'm completely new to this stuff, so I need some input on this matter. Everyone I talked to so far told me to get a Yakima rack. I don't want to spend too much one one, just something affordable, and sturdy.
If you have one, do you have pics of it on your car?
Fold down the back seats and put it in the trunk. I ride a 63.5cm bike and that's where mine goes. If you must carry outside a Saris bones 2 bike rack will fit on the trunk lid. I've seen to many bikes that met the top of the garage door opening to put one on a roof. ymmv of course. Enjoy the day, Frank

Sorry my man but I gotta agree with Terrentius on this one. LOL I was expecting to see one of those funky pics with yellow maxima, huge spoiler and a bike rack.
IMO bike rack only if you have to and don't let any take pictures. :-)

I agree It's a little eccentric for a maxima BUT we must realize that for a lot of people this isn't a sports car that you put rims on and mod, it's a family car that you carry out your everyday tasks with. For this man, he bikes, and he owns a Maxima..
Cut the dude some slack. Oviously he has other interest that conflicts with his moddin'. It is a legitimate question. If you have a system and you cannot throw your bike in the trunk, the Saris Bones is a good rack. It sells for $100.

ive worked in the bicycle industry now for 8 years. i manage a shop in the atlanta area. there is nothing wrong with a bike rack on a max....for temporary use that is. the saris bones rack is a good choice (a little more time consuming for the initial setup but once installed very stable). yakima makes several different racks: little joe (stay away from it, POS), the super joe (not bad for the money, not very adjustable) and then the king joe (my personal favorite). i just checked the online fit guide from yakima and saris, the 6th gen has no problem accepting any of the trunk racks i mentioned, just make sure whatever rack you end up with you double check the "fit notes" to see if you need to do anything different for you car.
Nah it's cool. You gotta do what you gotta do. I've just never seen a Max with a rack. I would definitely take trunk mount. Easy on easy off. Good luck
But, putting a bike in my trunk is not an option. I have subs/amps in the way. I'm not particulary into the whole performance thing, and yep, 99% of the time, my car is mainly used as a people mover.
I was looking at the "Little Joe" but I'll stay away from it now. I'll look into the Saris unit.
Well man, you want some serious quality then. Yakima racks will be the way to go. Yes, the racks are expensive, but (1) you can lock your bikes down when you go in to grab a bite and (2) you can sell them for a pretty good penny due to their high quality when you are done with them.
