My rotors were diagnosed as being warped a few months ago, dealership wants $500 to replace rotors and brakes.I brought this vehicle from the dealership about a year and a half and really didn't notice the steering wheel shake until later,thought it was the Goodyear RSA's.Confirmed it was the rotors after I purchased new tires and got the wheel alignment and all wheel balancing.I've been reading the debates about blank rotors vs drilled/slotted rotors.looking around on Ebay there is a lot of combination deals with blank rotors and ceramic brakes and drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic brakes.I don't race my 04, It takes me to A and B and I sometimes travel to visit family and friends no more than an hour away.I don't really have to hard brake except when some fool runs a light or stop sign here and there.I very seldom touch the brake.

1st I didn't want the dealership to replace the rotors with the exact same Nissan rotors that warped in the first place, and 2nd $500 bucks is a lot for rotors and brakes I can buy at Pepboys, Auto Zone etc for a whole lot cheaper and pay someone to install.I noticed the blank rotors and brake combo's go for about $110.00 vs $250 + for the drilled/slotted and brake combo's.Are the blank rotors just not strong enough for the 6th generations or is the design of the brake system of the 6th generations, or both? If i'm correct don't the 7th generations come with drilled rotors stock?

Of course you could get away w/ the 110 dollar ones.. but i prefer my Roto Pros and EBC pads.. Great stopping..Looking AMAZING.. and not that expensive at ALL!

If the rotors haven't ever been turned (machined to straight or to "true"), the dealer should have offered to see whether they are still thick enough to machine/true in order to see if that would affect your shimmy. Personally, I'm older now and, while I still enjoy looking at a nice cross-drilled rotor (and admittedly, the posted photo is very cool), I'd rather use my money elsewhere. It's mostly a matter of personal values--if your car is used solely for normal transportation purposes. I usually do my own brakes, and my dealer wanted about $950 to replace rotors and pads. I bought my parts (pads, new rotors) from Carquest and they appear to be working just fine (cost me about $400 in parts). So, it's your decision. Only thing, I wouldn't buy parts and then ask someone to merely install them, because the mechanic might take offense and not do his best work. As you probably know, he makes a percentage of the parts, which they can buy at discount and you as a private party normally cannot. My $.02...

I have a buddy that builds race cars and probaly wouldn't charge me to slap on rotors and brakes but business is business.FastMax, brakes look great and you and I share the same color Max.I just don't want warped rotors again a few months from now with blank rotors.I tried to get the dealership to see what they could do about the warped rotors but no go.Since it was a used vehicle they only honor the manufactors warranty and the provisions of the extended warranty I purchased, brakes and rotors are not covered.I purchased this vehicle with 37,000 miles now I have 57,000.

Based upon my issues with my 5th gen rotors and pads (I believe it was about 5 sets of rotors over 150k miles) I'll suggest using after market rotors (brembo perhaps) and Nissan pads. I found the Nissan pads were better than most after market pads and the after market rotors typically held up better. I tried cross-drilled rotors once and found that they chewed up the pads rather quickly.

Completely agree with everything posted here and have used both on my car as well. Blanks & OEM pads have been the best bet for my purposes.

+1 on the Rotorpros & EBC Pads...thats what i have on my car and i love them...no regrets what so ever...had them on since the summer...
