6th Gen Max Seafoam and In Cabin Air Filter Maintenance Videos
OK so the weather warmed up in my area a little and I decided to do two other maintenance items on my car now that I got my Turbo back, reinstalled and back on the road.
First is a YouTube Video on how to Seafoam a 6th Gen Maxima.

FUEL TANK, CARBURETOR, INJECTION and OIL CRANKCASE.
For Peak Performance, Use SEA FOAM Every 2,000 to 5,000 Miles
When Added to Fuel Tank
Next is how to replace the In Cabin Air Filter

FUEL TANK, CARBURETOR, INJECTION and OIL CRANKCASE.
For Peak Performance, Use SEA FOAM Every 2,000 to 5,000 Miles
- A 100% pure petroleum product for use in all gasoline and diesel type engines, both 2 and 4 cycle. OXYGEN SENSOR SAFE.
- Cleans dirty engine parts internally by removing harmful gums, varnish and carbon. WORKS AND PERFORMS INSTANTLY.
- Removes moisture from oil crankcases and fuel tanks.
- Stabilizes and conditions fuels. Use for engine storage.
- Cure hesitations, stalls, pings and rough idle due to carbon buildup.
- Helps pass emissions test. EPA Registered.
- Cleans carbon build up
- Cleans intake valves and pistons
- Gives smoother idle
- Cleans catalytic converter odors
- Cures hesitations and pings
- Restores power and pickup
- With warm engine running, SLOWLY pour 1/2 pint through carburator, throttle body or direct manifold vacuum line that will feed ALL CYLINDERS. Possible sources are P.C.V. valve or brake booster line. Turn ignition off. Restart engine after 5 minutes. Be sure exhaust is well ventilated. Fumes will be extreme for a short period of time.
- For use in injector cleaning machines, use 50% SEA FOAM and 50% fuel.
- Fill diesel filters with SEA FOAM to clean injectors fast.
- Frees sticky lifters and rings
- Increases R.P.M.'s vacuum and compression
- Cleans dirty parts
- Removes moisture
- Cleans PCV valve systems
When Added to Fuel Tank
- Cleans fuel injectors and carburetor jets
- Cleans carbon as you drive
- Lubricates upper cylinders
- De-ices and removes moisture
- Diesel full conditioner and anti gel
- Stabilizes fuel
One pint treats 8-25 gallons of fuel (average 1 ounce per gallon).
Next is how to replace the In Cabin Air Filter

No you do the seafoam treatment BEFORE an oil change. And there are no adverse affects to my knowledge since this is a widely used maintenance treatment in the Automotive and Marine industry.

When applied to the crank case (into the oil) is loosens up gunk and particles so it's now swirling around in your oil so you want to dump that as soon as possible.
Last, forums are for asking questions!!!

In the Nissan Maintenance manual, the first recommended interval to change the in cabin air filter is 15-18.5K miles. If you live in the city, smoggy, dirty areas and use a lot of AC/heat it should be pretty grungy!!!

Great Write up Chern, but I have 2 questions for you or anyone else to answer...
Is the vaccum line for the stock intake manifold also in the same area as yours in the video?
And, does all that carbon being blown out the exhaust damage the cat. ?
I wanna do this just before my next oil change and 60k tune up.
Thanks

I see someone already beat me to it, but I believe you installed the air filter upside down, Chern. On the original Nissan filter (See below), there is a "UP" arrow in the middle and to the right there is an arrow pointing in the opposite direction and the words "air flow" beside it. This led me to believe that the air flow is from top to bottom. I could be wrong here. Also, how did you pop the tabs like that? They frustrated me to the point where I almost gave up.

OK when doctors said you have to drink 4 glasses of milk a day to be healthy, then bottled water becomes popular and the water industry says you need to drink 8 bottle of water a day and then there's seafoam, a great product who recommends at least every 10K miles but I say, if everything is working great, leave it alone, if you start your engine and is hesitant, has a rough idol, decreased acceleration, etc. Do It, before an oil change!!!

Nice, very nice. I will do this this week. Oil change is comming up and its the perfect time to do it. I just have a few questions.
1. How long does the car smoke?
2. How long does it take for the check engine light to disapear on it's own?
3. Can this be used to clean the throttle body and if so how? Last time I added my spacers I noticed how dirty it was, but I was afraid to even touch it.
Thanks

- My check engine light flashed for about 30-45 seconds
- Why didn't you clean the throttle body before you put it back on??? IMO no, I wouldn't use it because of it's patrolum base and residue may cause more buildup of dirt. Plus I didn't see it listed on the bottle but I could be wrong.
