So I went to the stealer for an oil change, and came home with a list of **** to fix.

2 motor mounts (rubber one, and the hydraulic one)
ac belt
tranny drain and fill x2

and some stuff that i already know about
broken lug stem (****ing rim shop did it)
rear brakes are worn (have new rotors and pads waiting to go on)


so what I need help with is... how hard is it to do the MM, and should I get the racingline mmi (do they do anything?!)

also, how hard is it to drain and fill the tranny? or should I just let them do it? ($225 to fill and drain twice).

the broken lug stem Im going to get fixed for free from the rim shop (waiting on a check), brake pads are going on nextweekend. Just need info about the tranny fill flush and the MM.

can't really help on the mmi, however the transmission drain and fill is easy and can be done 4 about 100 less.

As for the tranny job, Id say give it to nissan to do, but try a diffrent dealership. That price sounds a bit steep.

dealer charges 125 per tranny fill/drain, they said they drain and fill once, then to come back after 500miles and have it drained and filled again to flush. its $225 total (small discount)

Agree, $225 sounds a little steep to drain and fill a tranny twice. How many miles do you have on the tranny?

That is godd'amn robbery right there, holy s'hit. $225 is quite accurate considering the time involved for the tranny to "drain", so I don't see a whole lot of wiggle room there. Do the fluid yourself, maybe let a shop do the mounts.

If you do it yourself, the tranny drain/fill will run you about $80. Get under the car, open the drain plug, drain, refill, drain, refill. Not rocket science.

The motor mounts are probably a 6/10 in difficulty, since it takes some level of comfort to know how to support the engine with a jack...no offense, but you don't strike me as the mechanically apt type, so you might want to let the dealership do this.

I did not know how to even change my oil when I joined this site, but I broke my mechanics hymen thanks to all of the information here, and it has saved me at least a couple grand in maintenance over the years. Bottom line - pull up your sleeves and get crackin'.

Do the tranny flush yourself. Ive done mine and its simple. 1 drain plug near the front drivers side of the car, remove, drain, fill, done. When you check the level of the tranny fluid, do it with the car running, in NEUTRAL, with the e brake up. This will give you the most accurate fluid level reading. The MM's i had installed at a shop here in NY for $100 with the Racingline MMI's. Ofcourse i bought the MM's from Nissan myself beforehand. I would suggest buying the MMi's from Racingline as it is questionable whether they do anything but why not have the extra comfort there just knowing you have them. If your changing the MM's then just get the mmi's.

So I had a question, motor mount inserts (like the racingline ones) and the oem motor mount are not the same thing correct? I always wondered why the original mount was 280 something dollars and the mmi's were a fraction of that.

I just got new motor mounts...so no need for mmi's? What is the difference?

thanks for the info, my warranty should cover the mm so ill prolly just get the rl mmi and have nissan put those in for me, as for the flush, im gonna let nissan do it just to save face, i dont trust myself enough to mess with my auto tran.

The mmi sold by racingingline are inserts to the motor mounts to reduce flex. If you notice, the motor mounts on teh car have space in them for flex. The inserts slide in that space to reduce the flex.

It seems like the motor mounts go very quick on the Max. I have an 05 max and the stearlership told me its time to change the motor mounts. This car is sweet to drive but its a nickel and dime job to keep it driving great. I'm thankful for this board to help with information.
