Magnaflow Mufflers #14816 installed. Update, resonator removed

I didn't recieve the mufflers in time to be installed for the Houston Maxima meet but I got them installed Mon. The mufflers plus the Fujita gives my car a totally new sound. It's much a deeper tone, not obnoxious but it will get you notice. The stainless steel looks good too.

The Y pipe should be next although I've been eyeing the LED tail lights for the longest time. A few question from this noob:

Raceline or Cattman ? Which is better?
Removing the resonator will definitely increase sound. Will the Y pipe increase the sound?
Y pipe + CAI =15-20 hp? T or F?

Well I just removed my resonator and just plugged in a straight pipe to take its place. The beotch was a freakin' size of a missile. 3ft. long to be exact. The sound drastically change. It sounds real nice on the outside but it's louder on the inside. I'm still getting used to it. I may or may not put a smaller resonator if the sound continues to bother me.

Nice...

I've had mine for at least three years and still love them.

I wanted a little more sound so I had the factory resonator replaced with a smaller aftermarket one.

I also have the Fujita and replaced the crimp section with straight pipe.

$100 bucks for install?? Good gawd that's high! I live in Houston. If anyone else wants to have their muffler's replaced PM me (if you live in Houston). I know a good shop that'll do it for half that cost.

I've had mine for a few years as well, still great. I have the y-pipe with a 22" resonator. I've heard the droning is really bad if you remove it and most have ended up putting it back on...

I was waiting for you to chime in KC when I threw that price out. I think I had asked you on a previous post concerning muffler installation prices. $50 is a killer price but unfortunately $100 is the best price I found considering they are installing two mufflers

I actually got both of mine shipped from FLA off ebaY for $205.xx

It cost me around $40 to have them installed and cripm replaced if I remember right.

I have no idea why they would charge you $100 for an install...

They make 2 cuts, line the new ones up and tack them on.

Go with an aftermarket resonator, you'll love it.

I wish it was that simple but the procedure was a little bit more labor intensive than that. I was watching him all the time. Yes he made the cut and No, he did not just tack the new ones on. He had to fabricate the small "S" pipes that connects to the main pipe because those connecting pipes are part of the stock mufflers. You can see it on the first pic where it clamps on to the main pipes. The connecting pipe is cut and bend depending on how far out you want the tips to protrude out. Remember, the Magnaflow came as mufflers only with no pipes. I told him keep the length long enough just to see the laser etching on the tips. And as for the stock hangers they will not work with the Maganaflows. Again, look at the stock mufflers, where are the hangers?...right in front beside the tips. You can see it on the left side of the mufflers on the first pic. No way this would fit on the Magnaflows. He had to tack on a small connecting rod on the side of the muffler so they can be secure. You can barely see it on the right muffler on the second pic. A lot of work for a $100 Do you have the same mufflers as I do?

Looks good KC. You had said that you'd replace your resonator with a smaller one, which brand did you end up with?. To keep it in the Magnaflow family I want to get the #14715. Any opinions on these??

FMG Exhaust in Crosby TX, both mufflers, new piping from the Y to the back and the welds, 50 bucks. I know it can be a drive but it's worth it for the savings.

Sp2 Exhaust cheap get it while it's hot

Hey guys,

I was calling around to do my install for my suspension i just bought off Cattman. Upon all the quotes I heard that Greddy's filed BK about a month ago. All equipment are discontinued and is cheap!.

I bought a Greddy's SP2 for 04-06 max for 650 shipped. Thats a killer price whoever is trying to score on right now on the market. Many places are still selling them for 800+.

http://www.apexr1.com/ , Call and ask for Jeremy . They have 12 left this morning . They order straight from Greddys.

Tell him Phil with the Maxima told you to call and maybe he can do something better . I'm getting my suspension done there tomorrow. I'll see how it goes.

looking nice.

as for y pipes i think they are about the same from what i'v read. personally i'd go without the rez unless you can't stand it then start with a small one. you can always add more in/larger ones. that's what i did with one of my 4th as it was crazy loud in the cabin and around town.
