Walbro fuel pump in a 6th Gen
OK, I had been pumping more air (well I'm boosted) and wanted a better fuel balance so I talked with Tim at Speed Force Racing who makes the 6th Gen Turbo kit and he recommended installing the Walbro 255 fuel pump which I did yesterday. After install I noticed a high pitch noise which is not so noticeable inside since I sound proofed the back seat area and my trunk was already done previously. Anyway I spoke with Tim at SFR and Googled this Walbro noise problem and low and behold, it's normal, so with that said, anyone upgrading their Fuel pump to a Walbro 255 should expect the same thing!!!

this is an excellent fuel pump. had one in my boosted ek9. yeah, that sound at first scared me but thats how hard its "sucking" fuel from the tank through line.
ever since then, i turn my key to position 2 for a few seconds then crank the car. i got in the habit of timing it from the civic.

IMO unless you upgrade your fuel injectors to 440cc and install headers, you may not see any benefit by doing this, but that's not to say you cannot do it and have this mod completed before you move forward with other mods as they become available. Contact Tim at Speed Force Racing in California, he sells the Walbro 255 for about $99.00 and knows exactly which one you will need for the Maxima, your probably close enough to him to even pick it up, he shipped mine DHL ground to the east coast for $7.00 and I got it in 4 days:

Residual oil off the heads is normally ported back into the CAI and burned off through the intake manifold (you can see the hose going into your CAI), when you go boost, more oil tends to be ported off the heads thus was saturating the filter and lightly spraying into the engine bay area which will make things dirty and greasy. So an oil catch can placed in line will catch the oil and allow you to remove the residual all while keeping the filter side clean and breathable.

Chern , you need to route the catch can behind the intake manifold, the oil flows back into the manifold on mines, I had mines setup where yours is and I didnt catch ANY oil or blow back into the intake pipe.
I found out in the back of the manifold is where the oil is blowing out and back into the manifold, when I pulled my manifold off it was cover in oil all over inside and the VIAS.
Just a thought , maybe since your boosted the oil may blow by there.

with that walbro fuel pump dont let your gas go close to E because it will bog all day until you put gas walbro tends to suck up alot of gas i have it in my 99 and im boosted and let me tell u i be scared to let my caar get low on gas lol

a lot of people are against those breather filters, and im starting to feel the same....it limits the crankcase ventilation and is said to blow out gaskets/pistons rings. i was running 300whp daily in my 91mx6, and granted it had over 200K miles, i didnt have any problems until i put one of those in. the headgasket went within that same month...

yea but the thing is i really dont hear it when i try to listen to my seat.... if that makes any sense? i thought about dynamat like you did but it doesnt seem to be coming from there. i really hear it more towards the front of my car during idle, while im driving the exhaust note usually drowns out the noise.

I hear mine more towards the rear, sounds like the jet engines on the batmobile spinning up. I've gotten used to the sound though...
