Any major problems in 07's?

My 98 max has served it's time, even though it seems like the best car I've ever had still.

I was debating on getting either an 07 maxima or 07 3.5 altima. My question is if there are any problems with oil consumption in the 07 maximas like that found in 05-06 g35 mt's.

Have you found any common problems in the 6th gen maximas around the 07 mark? How do you like your cvt's? I've always been a manual tranny driver. Do they shift well, any noises etc.

I just got an 07 no problems it takes a little getting used too having no gears but from 0-40mph is a rush. So manually controlling the numbers all it does is rev up a little more and rev down. You do not get the shake in the car as you do with downshifting. When your stuck in traffic being clutchless makes my left leg relax. Overall pretty sweet ride I got the SE in dark blue with black cloth interior leaving it stock rides quick. Also if you use cruise control at or under 65mph it got me 28mpg very surprised for a 3.5 255hp 6 cylinder. The 07 has also a great looking front bumper and setup I feel way better than the 09. If you can find 07 with under 30Kmiles for 15-17K it is a sweet deal I found mine.

Those of you with manual would you ever trade it for the CVT, and would you get the cvt for the better looking 07 guage cluster. I'm only asking this question because the 04-06's have a hideous guage cluster that makes me wonder wth they were thinking.

My 07 has almost 21,000 miles on it and not a single problem. This car is hands down the nicest car Ive ever owned.I know alot of people here hate the CVT but I love it.If you hate the CVT that much then drive it in the manual mode so you can still shift.

Bottom line I would not even hesitate buying an 07 Max (the Altima isnt a bad car either )!!!

08 se with 17k. it fast reliable and fast. sometimes i miss the clutch but often im happy with the cvt so i dont have to drive in manual when im lazy. and if you can match the throttle with shifting then cvt can be quite fun.

can someone tell me if letting go the gas then up shifting and hitting the gas at the same time(much like shifting with a manual) will this hurt the transmission. i like shifting like this because it has a lot of tourqe and feels exactily like a manual car.

whenever i use the cvt manual, i've always just upshifted while gassing it...i've never really thought of shifting it like a real manual

07-08 should be pretty good, cars at the end of the production run of any model typically have less problems, the reliability of the CVT is still up in the air, just like the Murano, any issues will pop up when owners are around 60k plus

You know, I've been wondering that same thing..When I mess around in manaul mode, I always let it rev to 6krpm and let off the gas, shift up, and immediatly let my foot down on the gas..To me it "seeems" and "feels" like the car is quicker when taking your foot off while switching..It also takes away from the smoothness..When you take your foot off and shift up, it gives you a pretty big jerk..Not sure if this is good or bad for the car?

I have come to really like the CVT, been running Amsoil XL 7500 oil in mine, no oil consumption problems, runs great.
