Bad HID?

Hey guys hoping you can help me out. My 2004 Max had one of her HID's go out. . Called up and ordered a replacement OEM HID from Courtesy (had the best price compared to my local stealerships). Specifcally asked for the OEM HID because I wanted it to match. Put it in (which by the way was a major pain in the ****). After turning it on, I stood back and noticed that the new bulb has a yellowish color to it. It looks like a Halogen. No blue ring, like my other bulb...nothing. It doesn't even look close to the OEM. Thought maybe because the bulb was so new, that it had to warm up and would eventually change to blue with the ring...nothing. Waited 10-15 minutes, and still no change. Am I going crazy here? Would appreciate any thoughts and suggestions. Thanks guys.

Isn't there a difference between the connectors between halogen and HID? I was told you couldn't put anything but a HID in there.

Your old HID bulb has color shifted, whereas the new one is at the color it is suppose to be. All OEM HID bulbs are rated at ~4,300K which is yellow, then after hundreds of hours of use it shifts to a whiter color (less bright too). So nothing is wrong, all is normal and expected.

I know the bulbs shift color, but it should still be blue right? Even a little bit? As soon as I turned it on was halogen yellow. And stayed yellow. And no blue ring? You would think there would be a little something. If I buy a brand new car, the lights are not yellow, they're blue. Not saying you're wrong, I'm just trying to understand the logic...and prevent myself from screaming at the dealership. lol.

UPDATE: I called Courtesy, he's going to order me a replacement bulb. He asked that I take a picture of the bulb that came out, just to make sure it's the same manufacturer, etc.

pictures do help
also when you swap out HID bulbs you have to swap them out in pairs.
so it matches.

unless your ghetto... ^^

if you can return them and buy aftermarket ones off the internet (pair)

4,300K is yellow, no white or blue. The yellowness is less apparent in Japanese cars like Acura and Lexus, but look at a BMW/Audi/Mercedes and you'll see the light is entirely yellow minus the cutoff.

Look on the bulb and make sure they are the same bulbs.... They should have the numbers and information on the bulb.

Phillips d2s 85122's = start out yellow but color shift quickest = becomes dull
Phillips d2s 85122+'s = start out yellow and stay yellow = stays bright

Phillips are by far the most popular bulbs. I don't know what brand Nissan sells though.

Andrew, thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. I have the dead bulb that came out of the car here in front of me. This is the one that came with the car when I bought it, and had the blue-white color with purple ring around it. It's got "66040 Osram" on the side. Of course when I put the new one in, I didn't check to see if the new one had the same markings on it. Assuming I don't get killed by rain this weekend by Hurricane Hanna (live in upstate NY), I'll pull the bumper off again and check the markings. So assuming this bulb is the same exact one as the one I pulled, am I to assume it's going to eventually be the same color as the old one?
