When compared to a Cold Air Intake, how does a Short Ram Intake perform, on low, mid, and high RPM ranges... And also, with a y-pipe, cat back exhaust, and intake (CAI or SRI), how much horsepower at the wheels will be generated, and will a significance on throttle response/acceleration be noticed?
Also, because people often say manufacturers matter, for arguements sake, say it's a Fujita CAI, cattman y-pipe, and a cattman cat back exhaust...

Reason: Quick note...
CAI=low-end loss while gaining about 10whp up top
SRI=low-end maintained, but not as much gain up top...and you'd be sucking in warm air from the engine bay
y-pipe/b-pipe=low-end mostly maintained with a good 15-20whp mid-high
All breather mods will give you a decent gain up top and will make the car more responsive in its mid-range, but will usually take away a slightly noticeable low-end punch.
I have a used but in good condition Fujita CAI with all hardware and instructions, a slightly used Cattman y-pipe and a BRAND NEW Cattman b-pipe for sale if you'd be interested. I'd be willing to give you a deal for the combo. PM me if interested.
Anyone with the Fujita able to actually notice this low end loss ^ as mentioned above by PRJCT? Reason I'm asking is I have a Berk SR and have been wanting to try the Fujita but was just a lil hesitant b/c of that low end loss( I know it's minimal). 10whp at top though! hmmm.

I've had the Fujita on for so long I don't realize the low end lost anymore, it works out well for me cause I don't really get on it around town but I more with traffic.

I didn't feel like I lost any low end power in my car and I used to have the injen intake and now I have the fujita cai. But then again I have the real maxima 4dsc with a six speed manual
Apparently weaponR sri gives the best results, something to do with the two intake stacks or some crap like that. Plus weaponR now also offers ram air products.
Everything Prjct said up there.... I would agree with it. He's pretty much right on with this kind of stuff.
I dont agree. A cold air intake is supposed to do as it says but by the time it hits you tb and mani it is already heat soaked and is just as hot as a wai unless you heat wrsp that would be the only way to realize any real diff

We'll have to agree to disgree then. If you start out with hot engine air you know for sure it's going to be hot when it hits the tb, if you start out with cooler outside engine bay air you at least have a chance of delivering cooler air. Unless some actually measures the air tem as it pass thru the tb we don't really know. Who has measured it? Are you using a warm air intake??
My main point of agreement was wtih the loss of low end. I know for a fact I lost low end and gained top end when I installed my CAI. And got the reverse once I put the stock back on and then eventually switched to back to a CAI because I do mostly highway driving and liked that 80mph punch.
As far as WAI vs CAI...... many threads, many discussions. Practically like splitting hairs. I may jump to WAI just to give it a shot, but I'm with Kam, I think the WeaponR is really the way to do it if you go WAI. Before I do that I may looking into a MAF upgrade via NmexMAX or just keep my Fujita and save up for headers.
UhhWateva, what are you leaning towards, honestly between the Nismo/Fujita or WAI and Nismo or Cattman exhausts you almost can't go wrong. Don't forget a Y-pipe, it was one of the last mods I did, I wish it had been one of the first.
As soon as the cold air hits the heated portion of the pipe it will heat to that temp your filter will stay colder yes, but that doesn't mean your intake temp will be cooler unless pipe is heat wrapped. I guarantee if you touch the pipe of cold air intake after running and say berk short ram pipe temp will be virtually the same but plus 1 on second half of reply You can't go wrong any route you go and weapon r has some decent stuff. But As you said it is like pulling teeth with this subject LOL so I am done I have a Jita and wanna get the berk. But if he is looking for the only intake dyno tested and proven to function w/o breaking Jita for the win.
I think the price spent on the short ram intake can definitely be spent better elsewhere. the resonance chambers on the intake are there to improve torque across the power band. im running just a cone filter on the stock intake and think its just as good or better than short ram. that and its only like 20 bucks shipped on ebay. a heat shield with a cone filter setup could easily make a good 5-10bhp, and cost under 30 bucks
