Stubborn Old Man Allows 6th Gen Maxima to Grow Rust

Guys you won't believe it - I just looked under my step fathers 2005 Maxima out of curiosity, and it's ALREADY starting to rust underneath. Mostly the exhaust but I see rust developing in other spots.

He says "I don't believe in rust proofing my cars". I can't wait to give him the good news.

I get that it's probably impossible to stop it in Canada - but at least you can try and slow it

LOL FOX news at 11 canadian 6th gen rusting on exhaust

All cars up North will rust in the undercarriage due to salting the roads in winter. I bought an 04 that started life in NY then moved to FL and the exhaust was so rusted we had to cut it off along with the y-pipe when I went atermarket LOL. I kinda enjoyed it

There was recall about this problem for "Northern" states. Had to do with the salting of roads and such. Free warranty work.

I have bubbling under the rear trunklid and hood. By the time it becomes an eyesore the car is gone anyway.

I have no rust, because I don't drive my baby in the snow--ever.

I have mixed feelings on the rubberized ashphalt. Around here the rust proofing places use an oil mixture...with some added ingredient I don't know exactly what.

I just used engine oil that I drailed 3L and sprayed it underneath with an air tool cup type spray gun.

I got the bubbling under the trunklid too.. new trunk incoming shortly though.

On the door panels, near the bottom, it looks like rust specs on/under the clear coat. Not sure what my plan of attack should be

Any one want to talk more about rusty Gen 6s?

I'm dealing with a rotten floor pan in my 2004. I'm a few months out of the 5 year warranty so Nissan won't help.

I live in Mass so the car has seen some salt, but we have a 4x4 so it rarely goes out when the roads are slick. Its Garage kept and washed regulaly throughout the winter.

Any one seeing anything similar?

it's unlimited mileage so check the in service date cause you might be able to make the cut off

I'm just past the 5 year corrosion warranty. The original sale date of the car was june of 2003.

i was hoping some one had got a repair covered by Nissan or there was someone from Nissan monitoring these forms that would be sympathetic .
