04 or 05 maxima? Differences?

Hey guys, I am looking to buy an 04 or an 05 maxima 6spd. What were the differences between those years? Am I better off paying extra for the 05? thanx.

As far as I know they are the same. But I know nothing about these cars so don't take my word.

some 04 models dont have the manualmatic option on the shift ****. Jsmith can answer that better.

i also think the 04 models dont have the option to open or close the side mirrors.

The 04 SL models have 4sp trannys.

04 models are also known to have engine problems more than 05s....

Honestly, I think in 2005 it was a requirement that TPMS was standard. Also some 2004's had 4 speed automatics...

"Enhancements for the 2005 model year include the addition of standard Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, passenger seat belt warning chime, an additional 12-volt power outlet, black-tone brake calipers, new titanium-tinted interior trim, chrome interior door handles and satellite radio availability on Bose? audio-equipped vehicles. An advanced Traction Control System (TCS) becomes standard beginning with November 2004 production."

tpms was only government mandated for 2008 and up. some companies just thought they would put them out there sooner to get some real world experience about how reliable they were.

The only difference I see between my and my brother's car is the little light that tells you that the passengers side air bag is off. Everything else is the same as both are loaded SEs. The leather is absolutely the same.

Mine is 04 with 5AT and was build in 07/04 which when I go to Nissan dealer for parts they tell me to ask for parts for 05. Prior to I guess 06/04 they came with 4Speed AT with no ManuMode.

Mine is a 2004 SL Maxima its fully loaded and i can tell you that it does indeed have the option to open close the automatic side mirrors, it has a 5spd manualmatic whatever u wana call it transmission and so far no engine problems, im almost at 79k miles.

Early 04 SL's DID have a 4AT.

What's different about the mufflers? P/N?

Consumer reports says that the 04 is a worse then average car, where the 05 is better then average... Anyone know why?

BTW I'm looking to upgrade to a 6th gen!

Look in your center console (arm rest), say Abra Cadabra first, then viola the third cig. lighter shall appear when you open it!!! And if it's not there, call Cleo, she might locate it...
