300zx calipers installed

Wow. I must admit that this is one of the better mods that I have done. The power to weight ratio for these babys are amazing. I had no idea that the stock calipers were so heavy compared to the aluminum 300zx. Still bedding these pads and hopefully nothing will happen in the next few weeks.

Looks great. I have these as well. Did you paint or powdercoat the caliper? For a smoother look, I sanded off the "sumitomo" letters and some of those little numbers.

It was the duplicolor high temp paint. I have done the G2 paint and so far so good. I read on some past threads that you did that and found your before and after. I dont mind the sumitumo. If and when I ever sell these, there will be no question that these are authentic Japanese parts. Are yours aluminum or iron. I couldnt believe the difference in weight just from my stock calipers.

I have pics of my calipers before I sanded to show they are authentic. Mine are aluminum. I think the weight difference is 10 lbs per side.

Most have bought the calipers from ebay , be on the look out. Depending on whose brackets you get will determine size. I believe matts brackets use the stock size 12.6" rotor while jeffs brackets use the 13" mustang rotor.

They will not fit stock 18s. Brackets are from Mattt Blehm. If you go with Jeffs brackets, you have to get 13" cobra rotors.

Jeff = 13" rotor, Matt = stock 12.6" as red said. Be patient on purchasing your calipers. You will be lucky to find one rebuilt and painted, loaded under $300 on ebay.

sharp
I believe out of all the mods I have done, I like this one the most. Did you ever figure the pressure problem out?

Matts brackets on the stock 6th gen rotor dont fit in the stock SE 18's ?? The caliper is too big ? Im not really looking to change rims right now so maybe some RTP's, HPS, and SS lines will have to do for now.

The stock 18s just baaaaaarely touch the raised lettering on the 300zx calipers. I suppose if u shaved them off, the rims would fit. Its that close.

Thanks, i am having to deal with a squeel now that is pissing me off. i just put some antisqueel on the pads last night, but still there mildly. I prob have to change pads or take a layer off the rotor...who knows. modding these beasts can be frustrating.

I had the brackets on different. I have changed them since, but have to say that they stopped better the other way..I just had some rubbing issues on the caliper.

Calipers on rotors rubbing. I can fit my whole foot between the caliper and the rims..not an issue
