Driver Side Door Lock getting stuck halfway

When I click the unlock button on the key fob, all my doors unlock like they should, but the driver's side lock gets 'stuck' about halfway and I can't open the door, so I've resorted to holding the unlock button until the window rolls down, then I open it manually. Is there a way to maybe loosen the locking mechanism so it opens properly (I was thinking of spraying a little WD-40 in it, but I dunno if that would hurt anything), or should I take it to the stealership?

How many miles do you have on the car? if its still in warranty then take it to them!

Sounds like the actuator is on its last legs.

Oolatec is right on the money. I had the same exact issue with my driver side door lock for the longest time but just didn't pay much attention to it. Eventually I noticed the same issue with the rear passenger door lock as well. Finally took it to the Nissan dealership and turns out that I had 3 actuators that were bad. Service Rep said "I have never seen that before." Luckily the extended warranty covered it.

I just bout a 04 se and my front passenger door lock has the same problem
It only opens half way.
How do i know if the still has warranty? cars has 68k.
And would it be the actuator or the selenoid?
Whats comon to go out on this?

Just spray the hell out of it with some WD-40 if it works good! If not you are no better off then before or any worse. WD-40 will not harm electronics. But understand that it is flammable and not all electronics behave the same. My wifes 05 Quest did this on the passenger door. Needless to say WD-40 worked for me.

I tried that all ready, but maybe it wasnt enough sprayed down the wire.
It works great to lock the door, but the problem is when i try to unlock the car with the remote.

Dredging up this thread again... The driver door lock on my 04 SE won't work with either the fob or the toggle switch on the armrest. If you use those, it only twitches slightly but doesn't lock or unlock. You must use either use the key in the door or the manual switch above the door handle inside. Bad actuator? Don't know how to take the door off...

My car has the same issue on the passenger rear door. Won't unlock manually, any manual attempt meets great resistance. Obviously remote and driver's door controls won't work either. Anyone know hot to use lock out tools on the rear doors?

Sorry to ressurect an old thread. But oh well. I got a 04. Driver side did it 6 months ago, now it's RL and FR..... Had to disassemblew door and replace the whole lock assembly. There's nothing to lube. If you try to open the lock assembly, you break it and parts go flying everywhere, forget it I guess... gotta pay OEM locks.

Nissan door locks suck.. i've already replaced 3 of them. Im wait for my last one to die and ill never have to worry about it again.

They don't just stop working either, they slowly become weaker and weak until you notice they can only muster enough force to go half way.

i also tried wd40 but had no luck, its not that your locks are sticky, its because the actuator is burnt out. after taking a look at one of them you can tell they are cheap POS.

im pissed that they put a piece of **** 3$ actuator in a 150$ door lock system that takes a few hours to change, really, and that you cannot repair or service. Bad bad decision. Should have used better parts there.

Theres nothing to wd40.... it's sealed. When I opened mine, it was full of grease inside, not the problem.

ya, they just sometimes work, sometimes go halfway, sometimes dont work.....

Ever since I bought my 06, I've noticed that it takes a couple tries to open the front passenger door from the inside; the dealer said the "cables" are stretched and the parts to replace it are about $100, are they talking about the actuator?

Thanks, do you know what to expect for labor charges for this sort of job? Shouldn't be more than an hour, correct?
