Shopping List......Y-Pipe or ECU Next????

What up Peeps!!

Ok I finally got some money in and ready for the next performance mod . But I am stuck between either the Technosquare ECU reflash or the Cattman Y-Pipe. I currently have the following mods:

- CAI, Kinetix, Spacers, SPII, UDP

I was just wondering what you guys would recommend next for me out of these 2 mods and why. Help me out homies.

Well, there is several ways to think about this. Its better to do all your mods and then to TS reflash. Or, you can buy a piggy back (UTEC or SAFCII) and modify your maps as you make mods to your car. Im not sure the benefits of TS reflash over UTEC or SAFCII. Anyone?>

I do recall you talking about the UTEC. But I havent been eating my wheaties enough to learn more about it. Care to fill me in on this more?

Why is it better to do bolt-on's first?

Well if your going to get every bolt on , then dont waste your time on just the Ypipe , Wait til Cattman comes out the Headers+Ypipe....

I say go for the TS Reflash

Get the TS L-Spec version if you plan on hooking up another AFC later on. L-Spec is the "limited spec" that removes the speed limiter, raises the rev limiter, and enables you to hook up a AFC without the ECU "over-taking" it within a couple of days. L-spec is also cheaper than F-spec

For now, I say Cattman y-pipe

The Y-Pipe doesn't take more than 30 minutes to put on. So doing them both at the same time really doesn't save you much time. I would say get the Y-Pipe now and the headers later.

Also, I would do a piggy back system such as the SAFC II instead of doing the TS reflash. I think a tuner is going to be able to dial in more pony's than a TS flash.

But the SAFC II isnt going to be able to raise the rev limit, speed limit or other maps.

True true. I think the way to go would be the Osirus from UpRev...if we ever get it to work with the Maxima...

I thought the the headers come with the Ypipe.. so if he buys a ypipe now , wouldnt he have an extra ypipe if he buys the headers ???

Extra work ? extra part to sell again ? why not save time and wait?

Technically yes, but the EXHAUST MANIFOLDS of the "headers" have not been developed yet, so for those of us that already have the y-pipe will only need the exhaust manifolds when they come out.

Exactly. Buying the Y-Pipe now vs later will be no different. Cattman will sell the Header + Y-Pipe together or separately when both parts are available.

I wasnt aware they would just sell the manifolds without the Ypipe... Ive done and sold some headers and None of the other companys that Ive dealt with has done that , nor was I aware Catts would do that..

I guess thats what makes him differnt from other companys

I hade the CE y pipe before and it kills your low end torque, and my gas mileage was horrible, i would go for a s-afc2 are the reflash for better fuel curve since you already have good breathing mods

I have pre ypipe and cattman catback dyno number and post number. the torque is most likely what you feel. Reality is about 5 whp increase. same Dynojet and same temps, barometric pressure and all that other bull malarky. IE wait for headers

I am assuming that the TS L-Spec is the one that TS shows on their website. It states that the speed limiter will be removed.

Do you have the L-Spec version?

SAFC only adjust fuel and air , it doesnt removed anything from the ECU ,

JWT use to do this on their ECU for the older generations

TS is the what you want for your 6th gen , it frees up some hp and raise the limiter

Awesome info.

Ok I am surely leaning toward the TS now.

Does anyone have this mod though? Any gains actually scene?

The TS site states 20HP gain. I dont believe that but maybe 10HP?

Save this for last...unless you want to reflash for a more accurate AFR after anymore bolt-ons you may get.

Yes, that's confirmed longz ago

The one that they show is the full spec at $495 IIRC

I have the F-Spec and after having it and going through many different possibilities of altering AFR, I'm regretting I got the F-Spec, but w/e

"freeing" up some parameters in the ECU itself will aid in power increase, but getting more mods and THEN reflashing your ECU would be the best route because you can dyno with AFR before sending your ECU, and then send the ECU with your run-files, so that they can adjust accordingly

TS is the only software company, as of right now, that can alter the CVTC map.

Thanks for all the feedback homies.

Ive decided to go with the Y-Pipe for now. I agree with what Prjctmax and will hold off on the TS until the headers are also installed.

Thanks a bunch homies for the support.

Case is officially closed. lol

Hey,

Any one can help me install an ECU, in 2004 max.The ECU, shorted out in the dealer, want 3k to fix.Has any one experienced an ecu problem. If so how difficult would it be to install my self.Im also looking on ebay having trouble finding 5spd AT, with traction control .Im also not to sure about the adaptive crusie control system the parts stores keep asking about.Do We even have that? any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
