Dash Trim Kits

Hey guys, wondering if any of you have put on some interior dash trim kits? If so please post some pics and your thoughts. Would love to see some.

Was looking at some wood trim kit sites, but can't get just the pieces that the SL has. They have these huge kits with many pieces that makes the car look over done IMO.

I personally saw Sherwood's dash kit at SEMA this year and I love the real Carbon Fiber dash kit. Im thinking about pulling the trigger on it. It was very good quality and its REAL.

Nice kit Racer. G35x is a nice upgrade. Hey Deus, do you have any links or pics to that Sherwood setup?

FYI I'm looking at a few on ebay like this. I don't plan to use every single part but enough to keep it sharp and not gawdy.

Yeah sharp look Ramberg. I agree with Fastmax that the burlwood is not my fav but certainly nice in it's own respect. I'm looking to keep something close to the current brushed aluminum look but would like to do the air vents, door sides etc as well. I've seen a Black Chrome kit too that looks pretty sharp but boy what a fingerprint magnet that would be. Anyways, keep the pics coming guys!! I love seeing those interiors!

Sherwood dash kit website: http://www.sherwooddash.com/

I really liked the quality of the CF dash. I may get certain pieces, but not use the whole kit. CF dashes and trim give the car a nice aggressive look that I really like.

I don't know why you can't just get the pieces that come on the Sl model (7 pieces all I need), and what is the color of wood trim on the SL? Its something burlwood I think.
If you decide to ever take those trim pieces off. I wonder if it can be done without damage, or discoloration to the parts of the car it was attached too, and how easily that sticky glue stuff comes off?

Just buy a kit and use the pieces you need. What's the big deal?

The 4 strips on the door you can get as a package of 4 pieces, but 3 pieces out of 40 for the dash kit (Only want to cover the console area.)???
Whats the price anyways?

Anyone who has bought the full kit, and drives the SL Maxima wouldn't need those 3 console pieces. I will buy them off of you if you still have them. Email me.

Can those trim pieces be removed without damaging the surface its sticking too if you ever decide to remove them, and does it leave behind a gooey residue that will come off?

Once these are on you cannot get them off without damaging whats underneath. The 3M backing is like glue.

I bought kit for $75 at a local shop and while I was work the guy called and said that he could hook me up. For only $35 more I could have a few extra pieces, sure why not, a few right? Hell, all I wanted to do was to cover the scratches around the shifter and a couple more pieces so it would not look out of place.
I picked up the car and holy hell there was wood in places that just made no Fing sense. I guess myPOINT is you can over do it and once it is on, IT IS ON.

Questionne....

Since we are talking about interior accessories... anyone know where I could get chrome inside door handles? Also, anyone ever thought about changing the steering wheel to like maybe 1/2 wood trim 1/2 leather wrapped?

I think stick-on trim kits are extremely tacky. If you are going to do trim, do it right and get the actual replacement parts. Even then, I think it's quite tacky unless you get the OEM replacements (i.e. Going from SE to SL or vice versa) or get a tastefully done aftermarket kit....carbon fiber or similar.

anyone have a link to a dash kit that actually replaces the old pieces rather than stick on them the old ones?

Changing steering wheels seems to be beyond the scope of 6th Gen owners, except me :

I doubt their are any.

Most kits are tacky and anyone sitting in the vehicle can tell. I was going to do a black chrome kit but it turned out to be...well...extremely tacky. I would suggest having a professional paint the pieces for a nice look.

Thanks for the responses. I've decided against it. I don't wan't to not be able to get it off, and not get my stock look back if I wish without damage. I would think replacing the original OEM parts for the SL OEM parts would be very expensive coming from a dealership. Maybe a junkyard that has a wrecked 1, but good luck finding 1. Replacing that shifter plate for a wood trim 1 isn't easy lots of things attached to the underside of it. I'm starting to think its not worth the bother. lol

You can't paint it to look like wood trim.
I noticed the 2005's, and 2006 have the cup holder cover, and piece around handbrake in silver like the shifter piece. 2004's have those 2 pieces the color of the cars interior. (Tan, or black.)

im jealous. IMO, i like how the wood looks but in moderation. too much ends up looking tacky and cheap. JG1 has the right idea.
