Chermax Phase 2 begins...

OK, started phase II. First I installed the Front Endlinks, wow with the D2 coilovers, and all the other suspension upgrades this car handles and feels awesome compared to my stock days. I'm just thankful for the smooth roads in my area that really let me enjoy this setup.

OK now for the first problem. The downpipe that holds the wastegate and MAF sensor were made with a 2002 Alti MAF attachment that does not fit the 6th Gen Max MAF. The fix, since the downpipe is made of Aluminum like my Fujita CAI, I sacrificed it for the sake of moving the project forward. We have another custom fab shop that will swap them out for us tomorrow, see the difference, sorry Fujita. As a matter of fact, not only did the holes not line up but you couldn't even insert that MAF into the down pipe...

The next 3 pictures are the 440CC injectors installed, all injectors had to be spliced into the existing wires, and the last picture is where the battery use to be and it shows the slack on the cable that is needed to relocate the fuse box.

All piping being installed will actually hang higher than the current headers. Heat wrapping, of course but you need to slow down, there is so much more that needs to be done first...

I woulda suggested to drop the y-pipe and custom fab piping all the way to the turbo. Seems like you're custom fab'ing all the piping. So much for using SFR's Alty kit...

I have hotshot headers and the Alti did not, he had his OEM y-pipe custom fabbed, this is not a 100% bolt up kit, custom fabbing will still be required for all installs at this time. Please remember this is the NUMBER 1 6th Gen, I'm provideing the feedback to SFR so follow on members will have it easier than I...

Chern, this is fabulous. The pics are great, and the work so far is outstanding. I appreciate you being THE pioneer for turbocharging the Maxima. This is a huge step. I look forward to more pics tomorrow. After tomorrow, Ill be at SEMA in Vegas and I wont be back home until Thursday night. Is the project going on schedule?

IMO yes on schedule unless I don't receive the Boost gauges from SRF in time and the rear Wilwood BBK. I'm guessing Friday and hopefully Ptuning can get me in for dyno tuning, this is a must...

So Chern am I right in saying that SFR will no work on a new down pipe that will be for our cars so that we will not have to fab our CAI. By the way that looks awesome. I need to find someone local who can do this job for me ASAP.

Spared no expense. Question...will you call your insurance company and tell them about the custom mods as if you hit a deer or anything else god for bid, its not like, you will have to explain where this majestic intercooler appeared? Just a thought and Im sure you already have this under control. Cant wait for the final project. itsa naice

Not really worring about that yet, anyway my car is paid off so whatever happens I'll just buy a new car and start modding again...

No, I contacted SFR when the problem was first found and came up with the fix, I let them know the Max MAF will not fit in their current down pipe, I recommended they find a Max or acquire an Injen, Fujita, or NISMO CAI and use the MAF connection as a template for the new Maxima downpipes. They agreed. I sacrificed my Fujita to keep the project moving forward verse waiting for a replacement, time is money also... Thanks for the support bro...

Explain how you would have done it. IMO, it's the only way he would have been able to keep his HS set-up. And IMO, that's one of the cleaner exhaust set-ups (re: Turbos) I've seen.

I already showed you what my idea was; don't act you haven't seen this photo before. Don't think I haven't noticed you tryin to call me out on a couple of threads. This to me is a much cleaner setup. I'm in no way knockin' Chern; I tip my hat off; do it the way you feel best. I just feel like this setup would have been cleaner:

Anything looks good in the air with no car attached to it.

Point: Unless you could actively say that set-up would fit your car, I'm not sure I would say X set-up > Y set-up. (As you did in so many words, the phrase I would have done it differently)

Looks great but I guarentee, no clearance between the engine. radiator and subframe for that setup for both pipes to run down like that, also you need to spin the headers another 45 degrees...

I'm in no way calling you out, just trying to gather further information from you. If you think I'm calling you out, then why not just answer my questions and call it good, so therefore I don't have to 'call you out' (AKA, ask for further clarification).
