How to get rid of scratches?

My car is not even two months old and some knucklehead pushed a cart at my car in a Walmart parking lot which resulted in a scratch. Can any of you suggest a remedy that will get rid of the scratch?

Thanks much.

Edit: See pictures below in post #11.

Deep scratch repair

Try the Duplicolor scratch fixer. I've found this ball point pen of auto paint real easy to repair deep, through the paint, scratches.

Hopefully for BB's sake, since he's got a brand new car like mine, it's NOT a thru the paint scratch and only a surface blemish. After he heard about my dent, he had to go get a scratch on his....

I am still recuperating from and

It seems none of you guys have used the Quixx High Performance Scratch Remover. Here are some articles about it if anyone is interested:
http://news.hspn.com/articles/1224/1...ver/Page1.html
http://www.chathamjournal.com/weekly...rs-70810.shtml

Basically it is a new product developed in Germany and launched in US last April. ConsumerReports.org has the best reviews about it when compared with six other popular scratch removers.

I am not sure how deep my scratch is but it can be felt by the finger and its more than a hairline scratch. I feel I might need a scratch remover that can work on medium to deep scratches. After reading the reviews, it seemed the QUIXX was the best option. I ordered it from ebay today. Hope to receive it by this week.

The best I've used is a product by 3M called Fine Cut 2. It will take any clear coat scratch out and will look like glass when your done.

Get a botle of 3M Fine Cut 2 at PepBoys.

That will smooth that scratch out as much as possible.

I will try. Is it some kind of a filling? Will the scratch get back after a car wash?

Damn, I just noticed some shopping cart scratches on the corner of my rear bumper now. Someone problably brought their cart too close while coming around my car trying to get to their car. Man people can be such idiots.

I know. I am thinking of putting up a sticker or something like that on the inside of all the four windows whenever I park, saying -- "Keep a safe distance from this car. It is electrified!"

But I don't know if that is legal.

I tried Quixx once again but nothing changed. It seems Quixx does not work on the 2007 Maxima at least. So now I have to look for something else.

My next step would be to visit the dealer's bodyshop and get some advice on how much they would charge to get it fixed and also, whether they would recommend any product for doing it myself. Lets see... will keep posting.

No it's a very fine compund that will smooth and polish that scratch. You may be able to get it to were it's hardly noticable.
