Well, I got the NISMO installed at the dealer today. $275 out the door, tax and labor included.

Overall, very quite at idle. Not sure if you put a stock vs. CAI next to each other if you could hear the difference. At open throttle, it sounds a little meaner.

Unfortunately, it is raining for about the 15th day in a row in Pittsburgh and the highways are pretty wet. I will give a full review should it stop before April.

All in all though, it is exactly what I wanted. Cant hear it during normal driving.

When I installed the intake and exhaust on my Altima, I thought my wife was gonna leave me She said when I get the Maxima ABSOLUTELY NO MODS. What she cant hear, cant get me in trouble

The Nismo is probably the Quietest of them all but has the benifits of keeping your waranty with no problems and having awesome fitment..

THe Injen and the Fujita are probably the loudest and best sounding, performance aside its a matter of opinion..

Fujita sounds fairly deep and is damn loud.
Injen is a little higher pitched and screams more between 5k and redline
THe nismo has a nice deep sounds throughout the rev range but u loose some of the crazy top end sound due to the Filter bypass..

Happy Buying

I'm also leaning towards the nismo due to my car being brand new and warranty issues. Is there a sound clip of the nismo intake?

I would post one, but I only have 410 miles on my car so I am not "hammering" the gas for another week or so.

But, at idle and normal city driving, it is a sleeper. You can barely tell any difference. I noticed getting on the hwy, it was a little louder, but not much. Again, I havent really abused the pedal much as I am trying to break it in.

On my Altima, the NISMO was pretty damn good. Not sure why it cost more for the Altima, but the Maxima looks the same. Oh well.

intakes=start getting loud at 3000-4000 so at idle there is next to nothing

Damn ! $275 out the door including labor and all ????

That sounds like a deal since on the Nismo website its advertised for 300 just for the intake alone. did u get a hook up or somethin?

As for the fujita and injen, i've heard sound clips and the sound is too crazy for me(too loud). I want something deeper in tone plus if i can get a warranty on it from the dealer like someone here did it would be pretty cool, even tho on the Nismo site it says that there is no warranty on it because its an R-tune

if you wanted to put just a k&n panel filter in the stock box..would it sound or drive any different than stock? would the extra (if any) breathing put the engine in any danger of leaning out? just curious. dont want to put a lot of mods into this one. just got this one in may 06, just want looks instead of going fast all the time, being 34 and all, and having mortgage. thanks fellas.

No. there's no real difference between the stock paper filter and the K&N. I have the K&N right now and there's no notible difference. Definitely nothing in sound. one advantage to it is that it's reusable and probably filters better and more efficiently than the stock paper filter.

See my post on page one from 8/26. I've had the Nismo intake for some time now. Sounds great IMO. I never dynoed the car when it was stock, but with the Nismo CAI I had 209whp and about 223-25tq. I believe Tek dynoed his car with Fujita at 213whp and 223tq and then had the ECU flashed and reported spinning his 22" wheels with the new 229whp afterwards.
Someone should add the Nismo CAI to the poll up, I had to choose "other"

after installin an AEM, Injen, Fujita, Nismo CAI does/will it harm anything if you do no reflash the ecu... is it essential to reflash the ecu after installing an aftermarket CAI?
