Well, all I want is just the bose sound from the 4th & 5th gen maxes. Nothing really to shake the car or having it heard from the outside. Just for my personal listening. However, it sounds like there ISN'T ANY BASS at all. Whether I take out the subwoofer amp fuse or not, it doesn't sound much different.

BTW, any 6th gen owners with a bose system here in central/southern NJ who could help me with my situation?

Wow, this thread was definitely brought back from the depths....Anyway Azrael, my stock bose system sounded really good when I got the car, I only added subs to get some more low end. As Macming said they are tuned more for midbass, but you should be able to tell they are there. If you don't hear anything then something is wrong.
I would only go to the dealer as a last resort. Go to a local stereo dealer and pay them to check it out since you can't find the problem. Good luck!

I did take it to a local car-audio place, the guy told me that "it sounds like it's not getting enough juice to the subs". Then his recommendation is that I compare it with another max with the exact same system. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any other 6th gen owners in my area, and the dealership isn't too cooperative. I'll try to take it to a couple of other car-audio stores.

The last owner might have spliced the wires in the rear or at the head unit. I'm carefull about who I'll let add this sub. Some installers say get the signal from the deck and some say splice at the rear. I'm afraid to let anyone touch it. The bass in my car is nice with no distortion at high volume. It doesn't hit at low volume like my 12" sub did, but when I crank it the mirrors shake and the rear of my seat vibrates. Sounds like good tight mid bass at low volume and full sub bass at high volume. Whoever owned my car last had the speakers faded more to the rear.

same here

I am in the process of installing a MTX REq5 to my stock BOSE HU. I will remove the 8" in the rear deck. Replace the fronts with Kicker 6.5 comp and rear w/ 6.5 2ways. I will also have 2 12" Kicker comps in the trunk. The Re-Q 5 will be for a 5 CH Kicker ZX amp. I am not trying to pound the neighborhood but be noticed a little bit. I hope this is going to be the set up for good SQ. Dynamat of some sort will be added. I too am fed up with my subpar BOSE system. You turn it up and the bass decreases... what kind of mess is that?
