Only when I'm turning right...

My car makes kind of a creaking sound whenever I turn to the right. It doesn't really seem to do it when going straight or turning left (at least not much). It's not a big deal, since it's easily drowned out by even the quietest of music. But I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to why it would creak when turning in a certain direction.

No, the struts seem quiet. It doesn't seem to happen over bumps, just turning right for some odd reason. It's hard to tell where it's coming from. It almost sounds like it's more towards the center of the car. The sound doesn't really bother me, but it drives me nuts that I can't figure out what the cause is.

When you turn right, does it make me clicking noise? It could be the axle.

On my 4th Gen I had the same problem and my cousin, owner of a Auto Repair shop changed the axle if I remember right.

I thought I was just being nit-picky here. It drives fine and all. Does this indicate that an axle might give me problems later or something? I really wasn't thinking this needed any big fix, but if you think I should have it looked at I will. It will probably go to the dealer for some stuff next week, so I could bring it up then.

I just had my right axle replaced this morning under warranty. The CV boot was slinging grease all over the oil filter and surrounding parts... and of course, clicking when I turned. I couldn't believe it would go out at 34k miles on a car that's over $30k.

Yeah,
It seems like you have to drive everywhere in Atlanta and 40 minutes is average to get anywhere without traffic. My resale value on this thing is pretty much shot. What makes it worse it that my car is parked at the airport most of the time and all those miles are from driving an average of 4 days each week.

My CV joint is indeed damaged. I don't think it's the creaking noise I was hearing, but I'm glad that I checked it. The driver's side wheel clicks on every half turn, though not loudly yet. I think the creaking may just be the "pirate ship" sound they refer to in another thread.

Thanks to all who had me check out my CV joint though. I have about 31,700 miles on mine by the way. Seems soon for this to start to fail, but at least it's under warranty at this point.

My right front strut went out at 4,600 miles and was replaced under warranty.....then it was discovered my right outer C.V. Boot was leaking when they did the tire rotation at 7,500 miles....it had caused so much damage that they had to replace the right front drive shaft. Next comes the recall notice on the skyview roof.....then a hazy cloudy substance behind the display glass. The service dept. said they received a service bulletin that said they are to just clean the backside of the glass. The guys must have cleaned it with an abrasive cloth because it was SO scratched that you couldn't see anything on the display when the sun hit it. So they order me a new glass. 6 months later, there is haze again. I ended up going to a different service dept since I had so many other problems at the first place. Guess what? They are going to order a new glass. I'm thinking they aren't finding a solution to this cloudy haze.....they'll just keep replacing the glass until my warranty runs out? humorous....

Got my car back from the dealership today. It wasn't a damaged CV joint, but simply a cotter pin that was making contact as the wheel went around. So they simply bent the pin out of the way and the click is gone. Explains why the click was so hard to hear.

They did have to true one of my brake rotors, as the steering wheel was vibrating a little on hard stops. Luckily I've never had the notorious shimmy issue surface.

The creaking is still there, but like I said, seems to be the same sounds people mention in another thread. I think it's probably something I could easily remedy...seems to be something around the door maybe.

I haven't had any haze on my display. But I never clean the screen, so there's lots of dust on it. Maybe three is a charm for your screen though. I know that I've seen some folks on here mention that some cleaning products will cause a haze. You probably already know that, but I thought I'd mention it.

Oh yes, I've stayed away from all cleaning products.....and have only dusted a few times using that swiffer handheld duster....no abrasive materials there *LOL* Whatever it is, is behind the screen. Service Advisor "thinks" it may be from some type of lubricant behind the dash that heats up.....yeah yeah....they are guessing at this point.

Until cars are engineered and produced by the god of cars, they will always break and cause headaches no matter what brand

Right you are oh wise one. Have always had used cars, so on my first brand spanking new car, it would have been nice.....to not have any problems for a few years....or hey, how about even 1 year? *laughing*
