4th gen owner here: tire pressure or 04 SE tires?
Hey guys,
I'm up here form the 4th gen because I got a set of 6th gen SE wheels with the eagle RSA's. I can't seem to find the tire pressure for them anywhere; after looking at the stickies, online 04 manual, and the service guides. Can any of you remember?
Thanks guys,
-a 4th gen dude

it should be in the manual, but the recommended cold PSI is 32.
BUT, when I switched to my Dunlops and asked Goodyear (b/c member here said GY told him 30 and that Nissan was wrong). GY told me it's not the tire, but the car that dictates PSI.
MAXimum PSI for RSAs is 44. My 5000's MAX is 50. but I am supposed to follow the guideline in my car for my car regardless (32).
switching to a different size, I would think would certainly change it though.
there are plenty of old threads going deep into PSI.

I run my Goodyear Eagle RSAs at 33 front, 32 rear on my 95SE with OEM wheels. It provides for a stiffer ride than say 30 all the way around, but will improve life of the tire and gas mileage I believe. I have 57,700 miles on these tires that everyone flames and they should be good for another 5K - 80% plus highway miles on the car and tires.

well, I have the OEM 6th gen SE rims with the tires they came with (RSA 245-45-18) on a 4th gen. What should my tire pressure be for good gas mileage and comfortable ride.
thanks for the help guys.

jackiss2888 - As the '96 Maxima weighs 3070 pounds (a few hundred lighter than the '04/'05), you would need to have a slightly lower psi in order for the tires to have the same running profile as they would on the heavier 6th gen.
For normal driving with your 4th gen equipped with 6th gen wheels/tires, I would recommend 30 or 31 psi. But if you are an aggressive driver, or do lots of turning, 32 might give you more even wear. I would go no higher than 32 with your combination.
Whatever psi you choose, I would urge you to check the tread depth across all grooves on each tire every three to five thousand miles so as to determine if you need to increase/decrease psi in order to maintain the same tread depth across the tire.
