6th gen seats: Are you 6' tall?

Any tall riders find a lack of upper back support? I've had this lower back pain that just doesn't want to go away for about 3 weeks now. I've had my max for 4 weeks. I'm wondering if the lack of upper back support has something to do with it. I'm 6'3" and the seat arches away from me about midway up.

The shape of the seats is a problem for taller people, at least for me (6.3ft tall) it is as well.

you have to mess with them, I got it more or less comfortable after a few tries.

utilize your lumbar support and recline it to find your position. I'm 6' and found my setting. I bet your 3" makes it harder. you may need to sacrafice one thing to get your back right.
I have my seat all the way down and back. then slightly raised the front to give leg support. i have the wheel as close to me as it gets and low enough that i barely see 70. Then I recline the seat until I could comfortably hold the wheel. gotta have the shoulders not hunched and head up. that's what gave me trouble in old car that had less room and bench front seats.
good luck

6'6 here. I'm comfy but i sit far back. At times i get uncomfortable, but the seats i feel are the most comfortable i've basically ever sat in.

im 6'3" as well...I really cant complain about the seats too much.
Tim not in the car for long periods of time which could contribute to back pains. I CAN TELL YOU ALL THIS THOUGH but when the ladies set eyes on my car they cant help but jump into the back seat if u know what i mean .... as far as that goes the SEATS ARE FINE

My one complaint is that the leather isnt as soft as other cars ive been in its kind of rough. My 5th gen max's leather was a little softer, moms bmw is the softest ive ever felt in a car.

I had to the same as Nismo. I put the seat all the way down and back and then raised the front until I found that loving feeling.

6'2" here and the seats are fine (better than my GM). The lumbar support is a bit low and not as usefull as it could be. I agree with those mentioning the adjustment for the seat bottom (basically tilt back), this does take some of the stress off the back and more comfortable for the legs.

Interesting comment from maximaman2oo4 about the softness of the leather. According to Nissan, the leather is supposed to be softer for 2005, however I don't really notice a difference to the 2004. Other cars seem to have softer leather (cost savings?).

The seats are set too high and/or the dash is set too low anyway, bc at 5'5 i shouldnt feel like my head is close to the ceiling in the car, but i do.

I am 6'2" and let me tell you it took a few tries to get comfy.

Definately lower the seat to get the lumbar support and throw the
seat back a bit. Everything should work out. Very comfy if you
shooch down a bit as if you were in a recliner. Took me a bit to find
the place for my arms to rest but I like my new Maxima.

I am 6' and I also had to try several seat positions and lumbar settings before it felt right.

I drove for approx 16 hours and felt good- a little sleepy but good.

It took me 1 month to find a comfy seating position and i'm only 5'9".

I also think the leather in this car is a touch on the hard side. My 2000 Max had very soft leather, which did however cause a problem with creasing and cracking.

6'2", and as I mentioned before - it's not the seat that's uncomfortable for me, it's the legroom.

comfortable

Though I am only 5"8", I have only felt uncomfortable when driving my Maxima on long triips after a few hours. This would probably be the case with about any car after driving for 3 or more hours.

In normal driving, being uncomfortable is never an issue.

Damn, weve got some tall ****'s here.

Me too, im 6'2" and I get the back problems after long drives. The lumbar doesnt seem to do much, I just throw a small pillow or buched up shirt behind me.

As far as legroom, im fine. However most who get in my car laugh at how far back my seat is.....no big pimpin....just comfort!

The leather isnt as soft as it could (or should) be, but after putting some Mothers conditioner on it a few times, it seemed to get softer.

Well I guess I am the tallest at 6'8, and I have had no back problems with the Max. It is probably one of the only cars I can drive comfortably.

6'1" here, seats work well for me, but sometimes the angle of the gas pedal cramps my leg after a while on long drives...that is about it.

I found a nice solution, I just need to dress it up. I got a headrest pillow at target and hung it low on the top of the seat. This gave enough upper support to feel more relaxed on the way home from work. The headrest pillow is made by Homemedics. It's black so I need to dressit up in latte' fabric to match the seat.

I have the rear sear bottom all the way down and the front part tilted up, then reclined the seat more. I had to scooch down a little bit, but then my legs were slightly more cramped. I could recline the seat more but then the steering wheel gets away from me. I guess my dimensions are just off enough, but atleast the pillow helps.

BTW...ain't it soo cool that with the seat all the way back I can still sit in the back seat?!?

Are we driving the same car?I don't recall being in more comfortable seats. I'm a big guy. 6'1" and stocky and I am comfortabl in he city or long drives. I had to play with the power lumbar support but I got it just right. I have pwer seats, obviously. Are you guys w/o pwer seats having the issues?

Exactly! The seats sit too high on the pedestals. It would be nice to see a mod to lower the factory seats.

Some of us 6'rs have longer legs than torso, so the seat isn't as much a problem as the pedals and leg room. My shoe can cover both brake and accel.(not too mention your view changes, the mirrors, reach for controls,...)

Personally, with the car makers now opening up niche markets, why not make a line or two that accommodate taller folks (they make SUVs with pedals for short women!...and that is not dangerous?...should make rearview mirrors that don't tilt more than 5 degrees! )
Seriously though, folks should start writing the automakers. We spend more time than ever in our cars. Otherwise, I'll have to trade for a Suburban...

6-1, fits great, no leg room problems, but always, no matter what I'm driving have some back issues if the drive is long enough.

6'3" here. I agree the seats are set way to high. My height is in my torso so I had to order my car with the skyview roof since my head hit the headliner with the sun roof.

After playing around a little I had no issue getting the seat set to the comfy position.

Yeah, been there, done that The seat is definately too high, but like others said, you need to find the right combination of settings... I'm 6'2" and it took me a while to find the right settings, but right now no problems...

Lumbar support works fine for me. To be honest, that was one of my buying criteria
