I'm one of those who have ripped the rear parcel shelf apart a number of times to cure the rattling noise. I've added pads, towels, insulating tape, old socks, anything to stop the noise.... with limited success.

Well, my younger son was in the back seat this past weekend, as we were driving around town. After hearing the rattle a few times I asked him to press various areas of the rear deck down to try and isolate the noise. He responded by saying why press on the deck when the rattle is coming from the roof. He then pressed the rear of the roof headliner against the roof, and sure enough the rattle stopped!!!



I haven't had a chance to see exactly what is rattling, but at least I know where its coming from. That's 90% of the battle.

BTW, I have the sunroof option, not the skylight version roof. I'll post what I find next weekend.

Altimat

There is an Altima TSB for a headliner rattle in the area of the dome light that requires wedging some foam somewhere (under dome light?) and securing the wire for the dome light with some tape. Do that while you're in there.

Also, I met a guy at a meet once that dynamatted his roof panel just with a few large pieces in the larger open areas because he couldn't stand the sound of the rain in the car. I knocked on his roof and mine with a knuckle and the difference was incredible.
