I think I may have my VIN# for my ordered Maxima

I was checking Nissan's dealer inventory just out of Curiosity because I ordered my car about 3 1/2 weeks earlier. I pulled up the dealer that I ordered the car from, and there it was, my Smoke/Black leather interior 05, listed there with the VIN# and everything. I checked the VIN and it started at 815xxx instead of 802xxx, so this has to be my car. What are the odds that someone ordered the same exact car with the same color and options as me, 4 weeks earlier?

In any case, I went to bed and when I woke up I checked again. However, it was no where to be found. I checked my browsers cached pages, pulled it up and printed it out.

I'm gonna see if my dealer can find this vehicle now that I have the VIN#. With the VIN# shouldn't they be able to tell me the delivery date on the car now?

I'm crossing my fingers that this wasn't a glitch.

MaxMus - I am excited that you are excited. The Maxima is worth getting excited about.

I'm not sure I understood the 'instead of 802xxx' statement. The '05s in the 802xxx range were built the first week of August, and most are parked in owner's driveways or are carrying their smiling driver happily down the highway.

Did you pull up the detailed description for this car while on the Nissan site? If every single option was exactly what you ordered, this might be your car. And if so, the reason it seems to have disappeared may be that Nissan realized they entered the data in your dealer's inventory prematurely, so took it back out pending assembly of the car.

But who knows? Your dealer notifies Nissan every time a car is sold, and Nissan takes the car out of the inventory for that dealer. The processing of that notification may be what took the car from Nissan's dealer inventory. If so, you may be getting your car very soon.

As you mentioned, there is the chance a car like yours happened to be sent to your dealer. I have noticed that some dealers replace stock based on what they are selling fast, or have just sold. My dealer did that with my car.

Good luck in getting your new baby.
