Permanent Cornering Lights

I want to change the bulbs in my cornering lights and I want to make them stay on whenever my headlights are on.

Anyone have any suggestions on wiring? I was thinking of tapping it right off the HID's but am afraid it may mess them up.

and if u have any problems, u literally cut off your warranty. check eBay for a service manual. but then you'll see how freakin' complex the wiring is and give up.

This really shouldn't be too hard. But, I'd suggest taking it to an installer to wire it up correctly.

All you would have to do is find the harness going to the corner lights. There should be two wires in it. One is ground and the other is the pulsed 12 volts from your turn signals. Cut the pulsed 12 volt wire (I don't know the colors of them) and you could then hook it up directly to your headlight wire. The headlight wire is found at the switch. This will do what you want it to do. BUT, I seriously suggest wiring in a relay so that the power going to the corner lights are coming from the battery. This is where an installer can come in handy.

If you plan on doing this mod following my instructions above, I am not responsible for any damages that you may cause to your car by doing this. If you do not feel like it is something that you can handle, please do not attempt it.

With that said if you still feel like you want to go ahead and do it, I can post the wire colors needed and maybe a diagram for the wiring of the relay.

I had thought about the same thing. Wiring them to come on with the fog lights. I was thinking a reostat (allows current/voltage only one way) may be a good precaution. Essentially you'd splice in another +12V wire to the existing one at the bulb housing. I was thinking you don't want to be sending a 12V signal back on the existing wire in the harness. Dunno if that makes electrical sense or not. And I haven't had the ***** to try it out and find out if it works or not. lol

This isn't really related, but what could you do if you wanted to make the cornering lights blink in unison with the turn signals? I'm not old and don't need a light on the corner to see off to the left or right at night, but it would be cool to have 2 lights blinking instead of one.

There may be a traffic law against blinking white lights on a vehicle.

What the hell does age have to do with seeing in the dark?!? Who can see in the dark when there is no light? Batman?

You misunderstand me...what I mean is that a cornering light is unnecessary when we already have HID, fog lights, running light, and the lights on the street. So I see a cornering light as sort of pointless and that it may look better as a turn signal than a light to use for viewing purposes. Sorry if I confused you about that.
