What does everyone do for a living?

Just curious as to what everyone does. The demographics poll just got me thinking...Just figured this would be a great topic and some of us could network.

I'll start off..

I own my own installation business for mobile electronics and accessories. I mostly service dealers but, I do the ocassional retail customer.

I am also a part-time realtor.

After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill, I spent three years in the Army, mostly at the Fort Huachuca (AZ) Electronic Proving Ground. Worked with radar and infrared sensors, moved to image interpretation, then field-tested (this did involve getting shot at) the first operational anti-personnel doppler radar on an island at the mouth of the Han River (Korea) for over a year.

Worked five years with System Development Corp in Santa Monica in the early '60s designing and coding computer programs necessary for a computerized air control/defense system for the Air Force. Priviledged to see such things as the first flight of the SR71 (Blackbird).

Worked thirty years in the Info Tech Dept of Norfolk Southern Corp. in such positions as computer engineer, computer programmer, programmer analyst, system analyst, system problem research analyst, etc.

Retired in 1995. Now sit on the back porch, from where no road, house, power line or other man-wrought eyesore is visible. Only cows and horses and squirrels and chipmunks and bluebirds and meadows and woods and roses and lots of other flowers to be seen. Life is good.

Thanks for the kind words, Edify11, SilverBelle04 and koreanmaximan. I have also been impressed by several posts from you folks.

I shouldn't have posted my life history here, but if I responded as the original poster suggested, I could only have said: I do nothing.

One knows he is old when he has to reach to the past for validation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I have driven nothing but Maximas for 19 years. I drove Datsuns (Nissan's predecessor) before that. My 'good' Maxima info is well-meant, but you need to keep your eye on me; I have been driving for fifty-five years (first drove a Studebaker in '49), and some of my info is probably out-dated . . . by a half century or so.

Since I graduated college in 2003, I've been a full time crack dealer. Actually I got my degree in civil engineering and now a full time employee for the government designing roads.

I'm thinking of quiting my job cause this will be my first summer working, and I'm a lazy mother f*cker.

After teaching Middle School English for 31 years, I jumped through an "early out window" and never looked back. I now spend way too much time worrying about whether the lawn and beds need tending and of course detailing the Max.
