Great thread! It is interesting to see the diversity in the 6th Gen Max ownership.

I am a project engineer/manager for a large casework manufacturer. We supply institutional spec cabinets and countertops for schools, hospitals, colleges, etc.
Over 75% of our business (30+ million a year) is in California.

Oh yeah, in a previous (younger) life, I was (still am?)a journeyman machinist.

How's it boring, faye_wong? I work in your field as an administrator as well (mainly UNIX systems) and I wouldn't say it's boring... You gotta be either a bona fide computer "geek" {which would explain you being bored} or just not into computers {which would make you disinterested/unhappy}... Which is it?

Maybe I can pick your brain - and those of other installers?

What does it take to replace the speakers and add an amp to an 04 Maxima? Do the front speakers run off the rear-mounted amp or off a main amp in / near the head unit?

I'm thinking of going Boston Acoustics, MB Quart or Polk. Any clear-cut recommendations?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Do you have the bose system? If you do NOT, it is pretty straight forward to replace the speakers. It is also not a problem if you plan on adding a 4 channel amp but, if you have a bose system you must replace your speakers at the same time. Unless you amp is stable enough to handle the low resistance of the speakers. The only thing that you will need to install an amp is a line out converter to get an rca signal from the radio.

The amp for the bose system is in the back. The non-bose system runs off of the power in the HU.

As far as speaker selection goes, there is no clear-cut speaker out there. The sound of the speaker is dependent on the listener's ears. I suggest going to a shop where they have the speakers that you are considering and give them a listen with your own music. I personally like Focals.

Hope this helps!

I just graduated 2 years ago from Millersville University and am finishing my first year teaching Elementary school as a substitute. Going back to my summer job making Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Anyone live were they really need teachers? There are too many teachers in this PA area near Hershey.

It would be nice to use my income for more than my Max payments.

2. The finest quality products or services in the industry it serves

3. An environment that fosters empowerment

I work for a global forklift truck manufacturer, with North American operations HQ in Houston, TX. I manage the company's end-user customer and dealer satisfaction research. Yes, somebody really does something with those surveys you take the time to complete.

Also as an FYI, (if anyone cares) NISSAN's North American customer satisfaction program is administered by the automotive division of the company I used to work for, Maritz Research. Their office in Toledo, OH processes all those mail questionnaires you guys have been filling out! (I am yet to receive mine as I just took delivery of my '04 Maxima on 5/29).
