Maxima Air Conditioner?

Warm A/C
I've had my '05 for over 3 years and A/C has always been very cold - until this season. It's 90 outside this week and the car won't get cooler than about 78 degrees inside. Surprising, considering its low miles.
Will be checking for leaks after reading this thread!

Since purchasing our Maxima last November we have only had reason to use the A/C a handful of times and the last time it was warm enough to require it we did notice that it was barely blowing any cold air and the amount of airflow seemed unusually low... the dealership suggested bringing it in to get it checked but of course that would cost me some ridiculous amount of money... I would just get a recharge kit but I've heard if you recharge and it overcharges the system the problem could get worse, not better, so does anyone know of any places that do a free A/C check?

Not sure about a free check, but I had the same problem this week and I couldn't find any leaks etc so I ended up putting in a 14 oz can of r-134a with sealer. Now my AC blows cold.
The can I got was $23 and had a guage on it and pretty easy to use. I've been told that when the AC isn't blowing cold a 10-17 oz can shouldn't hurt anything.

Did you ever get this checked out. Mine stopped blowing cold about 5 days after I put the can in. I have an appointment on Friday to have it checked by the dealer if I can't figure it out by then. The dealer quoted $99 diagnostic fee or $150 Recharge/Diagnostic fee if they can't find anything and have to recharge themselves. I told them I already put a can of 134a in with the dye, but can't find a leak. He said the tech would have to check it out.
So, I'm hoping I can find the leak before Friday and fix it myself. Can't believe the problems I have had with this 07 Max. My 2000SE (made in Japan) never had issues like this one.

I haven't had a chance to get the A/C checked yet since our car is still waiting for a transmission to arrive (should be here Friday and I'll have the car back next week some time... $3000 later )
It's funny you mention your 00... my mom has a 96 Maxima and besides an ABS light and replacing the belts and a sensor or two, she's never had any sort of issues that have made the car undriveable. It's obvious that standards have been lowered accross the board in the automotive market since 2000.
I'm planning on having Jiffy Lube do an evac and recharge of the A/C... costs $75 at most and they'll be able to detect any major leaks. I'll report how that goes.

I ran my A/C some more and actually I found the leak. There is a lot of dye on the hose now so not sure why I didn't notice it the first time. It looks like an unbolt and bolt repair, but I'm not sure if I can reach the bottom of the hose to unbolt it. I'll have to do some more research in the FSM.

Picked up my Maxima from the tranny shop today... all is well for the time being, hope it lasts me awhile!
Anyways...
Had another local shop check and recharge the A/C... blows nice and cold now and the tech said he had just checked a Max this morning and the hose needed replacing and mine looked just fine to him. No leaks yet, but I wonder why it wasn't working to begin with?!?

So of course the A/C stop working just before our road trip to Cali this past weekend... had the hosed checked at the shop I had it recharged at and sure enough... lots of green dye all over the hose. My local dealer "owes me" so I'm going to see if they'll replace it and recharge for me or at least cover the cost of the part as I've heard it's rather pricey.
No A/C for 10+ hours sucks.
