Did I miss all the fun?

Did I miss all the fun?
When I was about 11 or 12 years old my dad bought a used Maxima. I grew up in that thing and fell in love with it. I always looked out through the window with its 4DSC sticker on it and smiled. It was either a '94 or a '95 white SE edition with leather, spoiler, and bose stereo. The car felt quick, light, agile, and fast. Now as I approach graduation from college next year I will be receiving a nice fat car loan which I want to get a sweet car with. I would love to get a maxima but feel like I have missed the days of the 4DSC and have moved on to plush and slow. What would be my best bet for me to relive that rush I had as a child? Is the '04 Max out, am I better off getting a '03? I want to get either a new car or one with low miles on it. I know it is still a year off, but I am starting to look now. Thanks for all the input.

Car and Driver actually said the new Acura TSX reminds them of the old 4DSC Maxima. That's the car you chould check out first (it's basically a Japan-market Accord, sold in the US as an Acura, looks much cooler than the US Accord).

Edit: Oh yeah, and if you're dead set on buying a Nissan, you may not have heard, but the Altima is the new sport sedan... the Maxima is movin' on up. BTW '04 Max = Plush. '04 Max <> slow.
Acura has inadvertently conjured up the spirit of the old Nissan Maxima. Here we refer to the '89 through '94 models to which Nissan affixed "4DSC" stickers (for "four-door sports car"), not the softer, larger cars that followed. The TSX is the car for those who need space, want fun, and haven't the money for an impressive badge

I really really really want a max. What is my best bet for the rush I may have missed? The 2003 looks pretty sweet, alot better then the 04. Will it inspire me the way the old one would?

The Maxima has changed a lot since 1989. Some say for the better, some say for the worse.

I agree there the Altima isnt a sports sedan neither is the new Maxima... with suspension mods you can make them handle impressively but.. they just arent designed around the driver as they should be...
