I'm gonna back Jon and Gunther with this statement. I believe your extreme example of OEM 15 year old clamps is weak. Try perfect OEM fitment for only 75% (just an example %) higher price than aftermarket...if it makes life easier and will last longer its worth it. I'm all for quality and would def agree with these guys. Now sometimes you may run into good deals with good parts which doesnt necessarily mean they're bad parts as you are understanding from jons post. I'm poor but sometimes you just have to spend.

Choosing an Infiniti over a Nissan just because its more expensive is also a bad example considering most [of the older] models were exact identical car mechanically with just slight different body and luxury features. Luxury and quality are not the same. Look at Lincoln, Cadillac, most Jaguars, upper Chryslers, they're all garbage. May look nice and luxurious but are mechanical piles of crap that hit my junk yard everyday looking MINT as can be still.

I'm done

I can see where you're coming with the Accord intake as well, I'd do it too but if I had like a new car I'd def get exact fit non custom intake. Sometimes people just get tired of having to fab things to fit and like something to "bolt on" just like what these type of upgrades are called and known as; bolt-ons not fab-ons
