Give me a break, fitting fine by Nissan's definition is worse than my definition. I only don't like the fit because the coupler bends a little from the curve of the pipe which if it wasn't made like that would make the bend closer to 90 degrees and restrict airflow minimally. I don't like that the top of the cone is now within a centimeter of the side of the engine bay since my cone does have an air opening at the top. However it seems to hold it in place better there than where the factory pipe was holding it. As far as long life is concerned it's a pipe not a connecting rod. The air that goes through the pipe isn't supposed to be pressurized nor contain water. The wear is minimal and so a precision part that costs 6x as much is not likely to do anything.
Think of it like buying something simple, like a cup. You can buy a cup for $1 at the dollar store. If someone told you that they could make a cup with a built in straw that propels your drink of choice to your mouth with a miniature all aluminum zero maintenance electric engine and best of all it's made of lightweight and sexy automotive grade carbon fiber and for $100 you could own this cup, would you buy it?
There is a difference from pinching pennys and getting a good deal.
Did you know that best buy would like you to pay $20 for a wiring harness (aka 20 wires with a plastic connector) for a car stereo? When I told the guy I was taking my business elsewhere he was like "thats fine these are actually worth less than a dollar, we sell them at a 2000% mark up". Would you pay $20 for a set of wires to wire up a decent sony head unit?
Another thing, why do you drive Nissans if you think more expensive things last longer? Why not buy an Infiniti? Infinitis are more expensive than Nissans so Nissans must use "cheapo" parts.
Not really, a junkyard turbo is probably the most efficient way to get a mild turbo setup. You can use "the correct parts" that come on factory turbocharged cars and can easily get the same performance and reliability of a kit 2-3x or more the price. Besides, it's just a used turbo just like your used Frontier has a used supercharger.
Which reminds me, why did you get that cheap Frontier? You could have bought an 08 Frontier it would be more expensive and last longer.
