Anyone With A Water Leak Behind Glove Box?

I noticed that my passenger side rug is getting wet.

It does not smell like antifreeze, so I don't believe it's the heater core. Coolant tank is at max level when cold.

I felt that it is damp around the plastic housing near a sensor that is visable under the dash panel behind the glove box.

It has rained here recently and I think its a water leak, but I don't know where its coming from. Maybe from the fresh air intake?

Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas and fixes?

Thanks.

Sounds like the front cowl drain tube may be clogged. Happens a lot on other vehicles in dirty enviroments. Sorry no idea where it is, havent had to tear my max apart yet.

I searched the web and found a Nissan Frontier that has a fairly common leak problem with the a/c drain line that allows some of the water to drain back into the cab and under the carpet on the passenger side.

I would like to check both the cowl and a/c drain, if someone could help me locate them.

Thanks.

$10.00 says your a/c drain hose has an obstruction in it as the other person said above.

I get a puddle in the passenger floor after a good rain also. The windsheild had been replaced twice before I got the car. I checked the plactic cowl cover and most of the clips are broken so I picked up new clips but have yet to pull the wiper arms and install then & go deeper. In winter I put in deep rubber floor mats, switch back to the carpet in summer. This year I should get in and find/fix the problem. I have lived with it for two winters now, and it seldom rains in Vancouver.

I had a problem, not 'exactly' related, but it is similar. My carpet was damp under the floor mats. Haven't checked it in a while, though.

It rained today and the passenger side carpet is soaked again.

Can someone point out where the cowl drain tube is located?

so i had the exact same problem,
I took the cover of the front right column off, and while
driving in the next rain i noticed that it is leaking through the
windshield. It ran all the way down the column, into the hole next
to the glovebox and then dripped down on the floormat. During a sunny day I could see where the sealant of the windshield wore off and i could actually see the outside. Went to autozone, bought a layer of black windshield silicone, put it on the outside and a layer on the inside and hasn't dripped in yet. 5 dollar fix

Saw/followed this tread when it was first out, not related to my leak issue. Thanks though.

I took the dash apart and found that it was leaking along the cowl attachment receptacles and windshield support.

Used sealant around them and hope it stops leaking.

This is what I'm thinking, or a windsheild sealant issue. Going To start from the outside (pulling the cowl cover) to see if I can find it, before taking the dash apart.

i hav ea smiliar problem in which I have a water leak behind the glove box into the passenger side floor. i checked to see if it had the tube sticking out of the firewall like more cars have, but noticed theres nothing there. i noticed since there isn't a tube to help push the water out it's leaking between a small crack between the firwall and interior. would any know if there is a rubber tube that sticks out from the hole? If you have any extra time and a camera woudl you be able to take a picture of what im dealing with? much appreciated for any support!

I had a crack in the bottom of the condenser box (where the in-cabin filter goes), and when it rained the water would drip through it and soak my carpet...check the cheap Nissan plastic for cracks....

Help please

I've also got this problem where the passenger side carpet gets wet after it rains. It also seemed to start after we had the windshield replaced. The windshield guys claim it is not the windshield. So I am at a loss. I did spray the windshield with a hosepipe this afternoon and had a few drops.. Does anyone have instructions of how I can take out the wiper arms and the cowel cover. Thanks

I have 5th Gen Maxima. Carpet on passenger side is damp Cleaned out condenser box and replaced cabin air filters. Checked drain hose on firewall Not clogged I verified by pouring water in condenser box and watched it come out of drain hose Ran heater with mats removed Carpet dried out Replaced floor mats and now floor mats front and rear have condensation drops on underside. Carpet is only damp on inside of footwell right near console Do not see any water staining on inside firewall Has not rained in days I am stumped Anybody have any ideas besides cutting hole in floorpan lol

Same problem help

Ive had this problem for a few months now but have no idea where it comes from but now getting worse, first there was just condensation on the bottom of the passanger floor mat but now its completely soaked. Most harassful part is i have no idea where its coming from everything looks dry except for the carpets. I am seriously going to take off the bottom of the dash board to see if i solve the problem i shall post pics of how it gets fixed. Thank you all for keeping this post alive until this problem is finally found and repaired.

I HAVE had my 2000 I30 for a week now and it was raining all night. found i had a leak from this location. after looking in the repair manual to see how things were situated i began tearing in. two hours later i found it was the plastic clip that holds the winshield at the bottom. water was getting under the clip which is right above the outside air opening for the a/c blower , dripping in the opening and trickling down. sealed up around the plastic clip.
