Maxima SE-R: Real or Myth?

Nissan gave us the Sentra SE-R, Altima SE-R and Versa SE-R Concept, did they ever produce, even in concept, a Maxima SE-R? I thought Nissan was going to expand the SE-R trim to their other vehicles.

Maxima SE-R
search FAIL.

No maxima has had the SE-R designation. SE-Limited is different, and the SE-R variant has only been on the 200SX, Sentra and Altima. Hopefully it will stay that way.

ROCKART - In thinking back, what I feel you may be remembering is the 2nd generation, where there was a clear delineation between the GL and the SE, but no SE-R.

The GL came with all chrome trim, a 4 speed automatic and had options available such as onboard computer, digital instrumentation, keyless entry, sunroof, automatic temperature control, leather upholstery, etc.

The SE came with 5 speed manual tranny, all chrome was blacked out, black spoiler on the rear, sport seats, and sunroof were standard. But it had exactly the same engine, wheels and HP as the GL. There was no SE-R as such.

I owned one of each, and put well over 200,000 miles on the GL, and the engine was running just fine when I finally let it go.

ROCKART - I did not associate your comments with the picture you posted (just reposted by Maximus_95 above), so that made my serious response to a fun post meaningless. Sorry.

i hope they make a maxima se-r i was actually thinking of one because, i think ford is bringing back the taurus SHO and the charger is selling really good and if nissan can make a maxima with more performance goodies for a good prise i bet u it would sell. bytheway i once saw a nismo 6th gen maxima at a nissan dealership in new jearsey. i dont know the exact road but i will tell you how i got there. i went south from the goeathals bridge and kept on goiing till i saw the nissan dealership. i think was the rt.1 automall maybe.

SE-R Rims

Good idea, never saw them on a Max, and it looks damn good I have to say. I was stuck between either those, or the G35 C Rims for my own, but i'm waiting for the spring to do all of my mods.

There was a Maxima Shiro Edition...basically a 2nd gen max in 88 that had an all white paint job, clear turns, and suede interior. No Maxima SE-R...

That is one sexy Maxima! Why on earth did Nissan not release this version of the Maxima in the U.S.??? What they hell are they thinking? I bet the sat in their conference room and said to each other, "Let's come up with a sporty Maxima and not release it in the U.S." I hope the next gen maxima looks like the Spec R.

Indeed. I want that Spec R Maxima. This would've made the flagship car more meaningful. Looks just right between the Altima & the Infiniti line up. What was Nissan thinking not to release in the US. I'm anxiously awaiting the 09 Maxima and sure hope it looks as good or better than the Spec R. Just hope Nissan doesn't screw up.
