changing the length and diameter of the intake changes the powerband and total output of the engine- just like tuning an exhaust.

If all you're doing is moving the MAF and keeping the overall intake length the same, then it shouldn't change anything as long as the MAF has a nice smooth flow into and out of it. turbulent flow from being just before/after a turn or restriction can cause errors in the readings.
