Factory Service Manual

Me: 2k Max, 62k mi, No mods.
Long time browser, first time poster.

With the recent "check engine light" posts and requests for OBD-II scanner recommendations I was wondering if anyone with a factory service manual/CD could post the Nissan enhanced P1XXX trouble codes for 5th gen.

My web search for enhanced code readers and DTC tables have come up short (4th gen and earlier). Example: yesterday I had a P1176 code pulled at Pep Boys and it has 3 different descriptions depending on vehicle manufacturer. Nissan wasn't one of them. I'm betting Nissan has recently added their own P1176 code.

Thanks.

Sorry I can't help you with the meaning of the code you listed, but here is a link to some scanning software that might be good:

There's no code for P1176 in the 2K1 ESM.

Update: Factory Service Manual

Thanks for the replies. I doubt Pep Boys got it right. Perhaps the wrong scan adapter/cartridge was used.

Of course, my dealer charges seperately for the scan if it produces an out-of-warranty repair. The ECM and cat are still covered till 80k miles and those are the DTC's I need to verify before going in for the potential mugging.

I plan to keep this car for a while so I'm ordering a reasonably priced universal codereader with monitor status. The mfg claims to stay current with DTC's and has a translator for generic and P1 codes on their website. That and help from this forum should do the trick.
